Take emotion out of it, yeh, a first round draft pick for a guy that probably won't be part of our premiership plans moving forward. However, it's Stevie J, I want him to retire a one club player, just like I want Enright to hit 300. Footy's an emotional game and I struggle to take emotion out of it.

Oh dear. The "draft pick we would've got and who would've been a star" is going to be bought up when Stevie is suspended for head butting Ryan Crowley next year, isn't it?

We just make sure that Stevie is a little sore that week and needs a longer break without it being due to suspension

Happily, there are still "core" players at each club who will finish their careers as one club players.
And long may it continue.

Surprised Scotty didn't throw him away like he did Chapman and Pods. Stevie probably had to beg to keep stay here.

Thankfully, Johnson and the Cats politely knocked back the approach, and probably saved the Giants a pile of money and a talented kid.

Christensen, take note. That's loyalty, even if the club doesn't always return the favor.

No. Stevie is a legend of the club and a big reason for the three recent flags. He deserves to be treated with some modicum of respect for his services.

It's too bad Chapman couldn't be one.

He could have; he chose not to be.

That discussion has been had many times over the past year and really doesn't need to continue to be dug up because it's old and boring.

What's stupid about expressing the sentiment that it is sad that a club champion isn't a one-club player? What, do you not think it would have been nice if Chapman had remained a Geelong-only player? Are you happy he's finishing his career at another club?
He chose not to take up the clubs offer but you're not going to listen to anyone that tells you that. You just want to go on another CS rant, which everyone is getting sick of.

Just STFU with your ranting or even better do us all a favour and go find another club.Maybe Essendumb.

You consider a comment about it being too bad that Chapman couldn't be a one-club player a rant? Okay then...

Hypothetically if chappy didnt go and get himself suspended in the semi final and he went on to kick 2-3 goals against the hawks in the prelim he would've got a walk up start for 2014 and as many games as he wanted.
funny how such minor things like that can have massive ramifications

Well I'm happy he didn't take the offer. Considering the club tried to trade him once, he may have been tempted if he was that kind of person. But I'm glad we're not doing a Collingwood here and trading club champs for early picks. Good onya Stevie!

If he hadn't spent half the QF on the bench, we might have won and he wouldn't have been suspended in the SF.

having him as a sub against freo in his 250th game was a complete and utter epic fail, i seriously dont understand the logic behind that

Very true - but it really has been done to death here. It is also where I got off the Chris Scott bus and have been less impressed with each passing month of 2014. But nothing said now, or in the future, will change what happened. Water under the bridge of what could have been, sadly

Hypothetically the club might have retained their collective brain cell for the Qualifying Final and actually started him on the ground.........in his 250th game no less.

Just to check.. we are still rehashing stuff from the 2013 season right….o_O:cry:

May i suggest Idena Menzel's hit….

On the SJ approach, the times of contracts meaning anything have clearly passed. Contracted or otherwise, it means nothing anymore apparently.

The AFL will have to do something to prevent a free for all soon. Time restrictions or player tampering will soon follow.

Glad to see SJ gave them the bird and stayed put.

Go Catters

its too bad he didn't sign the contract they offered him isn't it

although you know this, and I am completely wasting my time (luckily i am work!) replying to you... you have an almost HodgePodge like ability to rehash the same arguments again and again despite evidence being presented to you that disputes what you say
