I’d take him if he committed to fixing his discipline, which is as poor a standard as any human adult playing any level of football.

can’t carry blokes like that and expect full buy in from a playing group. Talent gets you only so far

It kinda is a thread about St Kilda. And every other club.

If he came up, would you be keen for the Saints to make a play for him?

In a trade, what would you be happy with them giving up?
No.
I don’t think he is worth chasing while we have more important deficiencies.
Too expensive, role isn’t critical for the team’s improvement, and too unreliable when it counts.
So my answering your second question is redundant.
Ask me the same question about a gun ruck (eg: Gawn) or a gun CHB (eg: May) or a gun midfielder (eg: Bont) and you will get a different answer.
Not every club is interested in Greene.
It depends on their circumstances.
Someone will stump up two firsts, just not us.

I would happily have him at Geelong but we would have no chance being able to pay the price he would attract. Would be two first round picks easy, and that is cheap just due to age.

Man this is going to be a long off season.

Toby is copping a lot of vile online abuse from morons lately; he literally would not be able to walk down the street in Melbourne without needing a bodyguard knowing the type of hooligans that would want a go at him

He will be a Giant for life, absoulutely zero chance he gets traded. Zilch

  • The GIANTS have granted forward Jeremy Finlayson permission to explore potential trade options following the birth of his first child last month.
  • McCartney confirmed the club is close to finalising new contracts for key forward Jake Riccardi and ruck Matt Flynn.
  • McCartney addressed some external speculation around captain Stephen Coniglio. "Fremantle haven't asked the question, it's not something we've discussed, it's not something another club has discussed with us,” he said.
  • Inaugural co-captain Phil Davis is also working through a contract extension.
  • Rookie forward Zach Sproule and key defender Jake Stein are also expected to be GIANTS in 2022.
  • McCartney said it was unlikely the GIANTS would part with pick two in this year's NAB AFL Draft, a pick acquired in a deal with Collingwood last year.

Regarding Coniglio, it's interesting that he hasn't said he's a required player or something along that line. Just "no one has asked".

Even if a club was interested, Coniglio is on too big a contract, way above his current worth and too expensive for clubs to take over in the Covid
era, especially after it's affect on the salary cap.

We don’t want to trade him

Fantastic news from the Giants. Go Giants.

As a part-time Giant I'm also keen to hold onto Pick 2 and use 13 to move further up the draft board to get the players to better suit our needs. Young Fahey is a lock for me - born and bred Giant and we have already moved mountains to get access to him.

Rumour floating around that North tried to get pick 2 in exchange for a future first and 20. Was rejected before today.

He said more than that. Said he hasn’t asked and no one has requested. We don’t want him gone.

But we like their early picks
Is there any possibility of trading pick 2 to Richmond. They seem to think so ( 2 and 50 for 7,15).
I think you should just take Callaghan, unless you don't think he would be good as a forward for a couple of years. Mac Andrew, what is the point if you already have plenty of young tucks.

We don't even need 15.
We will only be taking 3 players, and we can use points for Fahey.

No. Dont think so - the deal would have to be over the top ++++ Only way it happens is Tigers get 3 and we are prepared to take 3 & 7 (plus something) for 2 & 13

IMHO general consensus is 2 gets us the quality player we need - 13 its a tad more dubious hence why we will more likely trade that. However, never say never ... but 2 is a very, very good pick.

With Flynn, Riccardi and Davis signing new deals we have 34 spots taken heading to the draft, 1 less if Finlayson makes a move. So if we took the maximum 38 spots to the draft the preference would be to bundle 2 picks into points for Fahey we can still get 3 selections and have a spot free for Sproule/Stein to be elevated. I think Mac Andrew is a smokescreen unless Caruso thinks he's this year's Nik Cox, but I don't see it. Although we have a few guys on long term deals they are also getting on in age and replacing players like Haynes is not gonna happen from 1 good pick, more likely 3 highish draftees to find somebody that good again. Splitting 2 to end up with 3 picks inside the top 20 plus Fahey would be a tempting haul but it's only if Finlayson gets a trade.
