He deserved a week. Nankervis elbowed someone and got a week because hes not Toby Greene
You're making an assumption there that the Greene decision was wrong and the Nankervis one right. Could be that it was the other way around. Just mention that (without expressing a view on either incident) on the back of reading Micheal Gleesons article in the Age setting out why the Fyfe and Nankervis decision were wrong.

All 3 should have got a week.

The MRP has been bent over by the which hunt in the media
That was a week at best. If a player like Easton wood has done that he probably gets a fine. But the character lashings of Greene have added a week or 2 no doubt
Witch which hunt?

Yes, that's exactly right.

Nankervis didn't strike someone 2 weeks earlier and he didn't head butt someone 1 week earlier.
Nankervis also didn't receive a letter saying you are on notice.

So what? They are supposed to judge every case on its merit and not use their opinion of a person to decide it.

They may be supposed to do that, but it's pretty obvious they don't.
Toby Greene wasn't smart enough to realise that.

Just checked up the injury list and Caleb is not on it. He made him earn an uncontested mark, big ******* deal, happens all the time. Watch for every full back this week do the same thing.

You don't smack somebody in the face to make a player "earn" a mark. Particularly so late.

That lack of discipline is a report every day. Think 3 games is 1 too many but not much sympathy from me.

MRP got that one right. The grub wasn't behind Caleb, he wasn't guessing what he was hitting, it was a deliberate, late shot aimed at the blokes head. Drew blood.
And anybody telling me that was accidental, FFS the grubs a highly skilled professional sportsman, his hand/eye skills are off the chart, he hit what he was aiming for.

The exception to your argument is that in 9 seasons and over 100 games Easton Wood has NEVER done anything like that.

Greene swung a round arm 2 strides after the mark was taken. It was a deliberate act and he wasn't smart enough to realise he couldn't get away with such a cheap shot.

Lucky he didn't get more weeks.

He shouldnt have even been playing because his headbutt should have had him rubbed out the week before. He had been protected over and over by the MRP and finally got what he deserved.

He punched a guy in the face, who had to leave the ground because he was bleeding.

That absolutely should be 2 weeks.

I think the Nankervis one was okay, but only because of luck. It could have very easily been more serious. As for the Easton Wood - it was a slightly late hit that maybe could have seen a fine, but I dont think anyone could prove that there was any intent in it. Maybe if he had been up before the MRP 3 times in a row previously...

So previous encounters mean that you can prove something was intentional. It's not a court of law it's a points system that was implemented incorrectly. Your showing your bias here by being emotional about it

Someone has a history of violent acts.

Someone has no history of violent acts.

Play the odds.... who is going to be violent next?

Imagine if grub had connected with the wild swings he made at that random Sydney player in the JLT for no reason. He'd have an even poorer record

That's a dumb analogy

So lets use a specific individual instead. Luke Hodge hits someone. Is the automatic assumption that it was deliberate because he is a known sniper? You think Jordan Lewis gets a fair run with the MRP? Stevie J?

How about if Shaun Burgoyne hit someone. Does he get the benefit of doubt given he has only had a couple of incidents over his 15 year career ?

Of course we let past events influence current events.

Well then thats wrong
You can't have a loading for being a dick head. He clipped someone in the mouth and he got a punishment. But that doesn't mean that every time he spoils the ball now he should be suspended if he clips someone. If you serve the time for it then that should be the end of it. If/when he fronts the tribunal again it should be a clean slate
It's the first time hes ever been suspended yet people are saying he's a sniper. He's just a bloke who plays a tough sport right on and sometimes over the line

Actually the way the MRP works is if you have priors then you do get an extra week (or lose the ability to get the reductions). Which is fair enough. Repeat offenders should expect to receive a harsher penalty.

Right and that's fine. But Greene had never been suspended. So how can people tarnish his character

Because he had been looked at each week of the previous 3 weeks. Including the ridiculous decision to allow him to get away with headbutting someone.

Perhaps he should learn the proverb about the last straw breaking the camel's back. Or, given he is a footy player, the children's story: Who Sank The Boat?

Did you even watch the footage? It's just about the most classic jumper punch I've ever witnessed.

If you get pulled over by the cops for almost speeding. You don't get a bigger punishment next time because you were warned
