I disagree to an extent.
In their first draft, 2011, they got Patton (1), Coniglio (2), Tyson (3), Hoskin-Elliott (4), Buntine (5), Haynes (7), Tomlinson (9), Sumner (10), Greene (11), Adams (13) and Smith (14). A mixed bag there. They missed out on Wingard and Docherty with those early picks.
In 2012, they got Whitfield (1), O'Rourke (2), Plowman (3), Jaksch (12), Corr (14) and Stewart (27). They could have gotten Stringer, Wines, Mayes and Grundy. Big misses there.
They did well in 2013 with Kelly (2) and Lobb (29). Boyd at 1 was probably OK, but of course he left after a year. In hindsight, they would have gone with Bontempelli. McCarthy (14) was a good pick, but we know what happened there.
In 2014, they got Pickett (4), Marchbank (6), Ahern (7), McKenna (23), and Steele (24). Pickett and Ahern have both left. Who is Pat McKenna? They could have had De Goey, Peter Wright, Cockatoo, Lever.
Quite a lot misses in their drafting. It's just because they had so many picks that they picked up all their talent.
