Well, many saw GWS dropping this year with the amount of talent out the door at the end of last year. Is that going to be reassessed now? Despite the loss of talent, their top 25 players are as talented as any list and most are in that prime age bracket. Surely they are a genuine premiership threat.

Where do you rate them at this stage?

Only morons were marking them down this year. There was no basis for it. They lost their 5th best midfielder and a vanilla ruck forward out of an injury ravaged team that missed a prelim by a couple of goals

It said far more about the quality of AFL punditry than the giants

If they don’t win the flag then WC or Geelong will. Pretty much out of those 3 and then daylight.

Should make top 4 providing they have a decent injury run. Can't see them winning an away final so wont make the grand final unless they finish top 2

Ward is a massive loss. He's a very underrated hard-nosed footballer but as is often the case, someone will now get a golden opportunity and when you have so many 1st round draft selections, wouldn't surprise me if someone just slots right in.
And as absurd as this is to say, GWS look a better team without Lobb and Patton. A lot more quicker around the ground.

The imminent return of Greene and Deledio will further boost their winning percentages throughout the season.

Just keep in mind Geelong often start the season in great form.
Come round 5, we are often 4-1 or 5-0.
By the end of the season, we are a middle of the road team and often struggle to win a game in September.

Really can't see that being any different this year.
It's only a matter of time before injuries and fatigue catch up with us again.

Who are these people? I think most people in their right mind would have predicted them to finish higher than they finished in 2018, brave not to.

Seems to be a common theme by Victorian-centric pundits regarding interstate teams. The rest of us don't even hear about this stupidity until an impressed thread pops up here.

Thing is, it doesn't matter.

It was amusing reading Tigers and Pies fans arguing about which of them was the best team all pre-season. To a sensible person it was always the Eagles. We're contenders but they're the benchmark.

I think you underrate your younger players. I feel as though they’ll keep you fresh. Disappointing today, but Giants genuinely good.

Good list so no real reason to expect a collapse. Plenty of sides lose a few handy players and don’t lose much if anything, and the ones that went weren’t great.

Looking a reasonable chance for top four again. Ward will hurt so probably can’t take too many more serious injuries.

I place them as the best team in the comp at the moment, even without Callan Ward now they will be hard to beat.
