Jesse Hogan and all of the 2013 top ten draftees have shown less than Morabito at AFL level so far. What do you rate as the chance we get a player of equal contribution out of a top five draft pick? 75%? All one of them needs to do is develop a degenerative knee condition and it's over, we watch Fyfe run around in another jumper.

Freo for Fyfe for Lyfe.

You could argue that the other way too. What if Fyfe blows out his knee, or breaks his leg badly (god forbid), and never gets back to his current output? We will struggle to get decent talls outside the first half of the draft, and Hogan is going to be a gun. I'm not saying we have to trade Fyfe, just that in every other professional sport around the world, no player is unavailable for trade if the price is right.

Fyfe is a gun ,Hogan might be a gun.

If you aren't saying to trade Fyfe what are you saying?

That if we are offered a great deal, we should consider it. For what it's worth, Mundy will be a free agent headache before Fyfe, trade him first if we are giving up on next year, cutting up our almost premiership midfield to try and win a flag in five years time.

why would Fyfe want to go to a club that has no chance of winning a GF in his lifetime

Think you're underselling them a bit given their young talent... What team will have a defence to stop Cameron, Patton and Boyd in 5 years time?

I think FG also underestimates the AFL's determination (desperation?) in having GWS succeeding at all costs. We won't have to wait too long before they're contenders unfortunately.

McCarthy is more likely to be a player that will stay is not that far behind Hogan talent wise.

But the problem still remains, how do we get either of them without giving up something of value?

And so you are saying we should consider trading Fyfe?

And now you are suggesting the team that (pre Buddy deal) are favorites for the flag have giving up next year as an option?

A bit panic going round or what?

I think what he is saying is that no-one should be untouchable from a list management POV, and that all potential traded should be considered on their merits with the the whole context considered. This sounds like a rational model and am quite sure matches the reality of the list management policy.

Which means nothing. What you are saying is that if we feel that we are getting back more than what we are giving we should do the trade. That is a given for every trade since the stone age. It is a given.

Now that we have that out of the way... It is still crazy talk to consider Fyfe available in any way shape or form.

People are talking about Boyd or Boyd and pick 9 and it is getting serious air time from some on this board. I tells ya, it's panic.

Fyfe is a young player and already a gun - with lots of room for improvement skills-wise and is a potential future leader of the club. Pick 1 (presumably Boyd, if we are going for best available for need) is an untried quantity and may be exposed as a spud a once he is playing against men.

Even with Cameron thrown in - it would still be a case of robbing Peter to pay Paul. Fyfe is more likely going to be a long-term player for Freo as long as he remains happy in the club, given that the only issue will potentially be contract size with no go home factor to consider.

This really should be a no-brainer. GWS can GTFO.

I'm not so sure. They are choke full of young talents with no onfield senior players to guide and teach them. I suspect if they don't stop shooting for the stars and start making some reasonable trades they are going to squander these talents.

I would take that deal though. Nothing less.
Gws offer that and they go two steps backwards whilst we go two steps forward. Would be stupid to offer that. What's the point of having a player like Fyfe when he won't have anyone to kick to in the 50? Fyfe is staying, he was visibility upset and blame himself for the loss. He won't want to go from being in a GF to a team who have won one game and barely competing. Freo will offer him the cash and he ll be a one club player

Oh no way, it's all hypothetical. I want our team to stay intact and to trade out depth for a gun CHF.
