Tbh, they have all the ingredients to build a dynasty (b2b, three-peat or multiple flags over a small period of time)....
Something that happens time and time again though.. a team needs to lose the big one before they can win the big one. You need to serve that apprenticeship and know the power of the loss, prelim losses aren't even 20% as bad as losing a GF.

The boys need more experience on the G' infront of big crowds.

They are trying to force one with talent alone, defensive transition essentially non-existent as is forward line pressure/structure. I certainly thought they'ed be in a much better place now and not sure Cameron is the man to take them forward.

We were meant to be terrified of them this year then they suffered a round 1 loss to the Crows by 56 points which about summed up they weren't as advanced as lots of experts believed. Still they have got a great list, plenty of talent but definitely need to find some real heart and run defensively much better or they might find themselves on the slide. I'd guess they'll be in the mix but also might need to make some hard calls on guys like Shaw & Mumford.

They'll contend and they may pinch one if the cards fall their way but they have issues like any other team.

Not sure of the personnel around him but Cameron may be a donkey. Pyke gave him a bath in the qualifying final and I'm yet to see any tactical ingenuity on match day.

The structure of the forward line needs to be rejigged - I'm not sure they can keep playing Lobb and Patton in this form alongside Cameron. Need smalls or more adaptable mid rotations.

The half backs are brilliant on their day but torch it under pressure, and the midfielders struggled to move the ball in the phone box after winning it.

On the bright side, Himmelberg looks a genuine swingman, they probably won't have a run of injuries so crippling again, they've retained their best player and Crows aside they're probably the league's most devastating side in transition.

Genuine question.Has a team ever made a grand final while coming last on the regular season injury ladder?
Dogs won one last year and had a HUGE list of outs through the year. 4 season ending injuries plus a stack of players with lengthy stints on the sidelines.

Comes down to depth in the end, and players stepping up to play a role and for eachother.

Not a worthy excuse.

bump this thread in about a year. You'll see.
The only thing being bumped here it seems is your head.

Do they have Talent ? Yes. Have they been a bit stiff with Injury ? Yes. Do they have the fortitude to hang tough and win a Big Final at the MCG ? Work it out for yourself. 3 in a row Please !!!! Think of the 2 Sides that have won 3 in a row in modern times and ask yourself about their hardness and leadership and compare that to GWS.

If this is a genuine question (debatable, but I'll give the benefit of the doubt), probably not. I haven't looked up a table if there is one, but from memory I think GC and Collingwood were hit worse.

I'm sure Leon and other key GWS personnel won't focus on that though - it looks like there are more pressing problems with forward structure, pressure, two way running and team cohesion. They look sublime when it's going well, and distinctly average when it's not.
