Said it from the beginning. They wont win flags. You need a real culture to win flags. Doesnt matter how many top 20 picks on your list.

Because SOS will just poach them.

If Cameron is coach it won’t happen.
I don't think the issue is with Cameron but more to do with the "Me, me, me" culture the club has. A lot of the team only play for themselves and while a lot of them are excellent players, until they play as a team they won't win any flags.

They were totally heartless in the second half when the game was in the balance.
Don't know what they can do to get some mongrel in them. Maybe losing two prelims will do it, but I dunno, losing one certainly didn't help them yesterday.
Lot of golden boys there who have been told how good they're gonna be since they're 14 so have no idea what to do when the chips are down.
I'm pissed off with them for the talent they are wasting over there.

I tend to agree. It's a team of champions but not a champion team. I think they've been told they're really good, but the harsh reality is they're missing work rate and the guts that Richmond have.

I wouldnt be surprised if they won 2 in a row and I wouldnt be surprised if half of them wanted to leave in 2 years time as FAs to play in front of big crowds and get recognised at night clubs by hot girls

They need to make some hard calls on a few blokes and get their KPF structures right.

Still comfortably the most talented list in the comp.
I told you how they are beatable, it went exactly as i said, Adelaide did exactly the same.
Unless they fixed the problem, they are wasting a lot of talent

i think their structure came together quite nicely towards the end of the year.

SJ out and Cameron in

Shaw - Corr - Tomlinson
Williams - Davis - Wilson
Kelly - Ward - Scully
Taranto - Cameron - De Boer
Greene - Patton - Himmelberg
Lobb - Hopper - Shiel

that team will continue to compete at a top 4 level.

They'll be in the mix.
I like them but they really disappointed me this finals series.

Inb4 everyone tips Richmond top 4 in 2018.

Their strategy is to cycle the players they have out and keep the early pics coming, thus ruining careers. Clubs should boycott dealing with them
Some truth to this. In recent years if you get drafted in the first or 2nd round by Hawthorn, Geelong or Sydney (indeed most clubs) it's a big blow to the club if the player doesn't work out. Clubs like this will be doing everything on the training track and off the field to maximise the potential of their high picks since they have been few and far between.

With GWS you get the feeling it's a bit more sink or swim. Plenty of high picks, they can't afford to give them all special treatment. Some make it, some don't. A fair assumption that some players that end up on the GWS scrapheap would have flourished at other teams with a bit of extra help and opportunity.

they have no early picks this year.

So i don't think your read of their strategy is that accurate.
I think they know their best 22. Cameron was missing from that this week.

Other than, i think you'll find they are quite settled.
ruining careers is a bit rich
They threw SJ a lifeline when he was done at Geelong.
De Boer too.

Some players have failed. Some just on their list, some on multiple lists.
Some have gone on and found a spot in teams and play regular games.

i don't think thats a fair assumption.
Their non-1st rounders:

Downie - retired for health reasons. Was behind Mumford and Lobb.
Stewart - traded to Essendon, now a 22 player
Frost - traded to Melbourne. Plays most games
Lobb - Starting 22 player @ GWS
McKenna - traded to Melbourne. Yet to break in
Steele - traded to St Kilda. now a 22 player
Flynn - heir apparent to Mumford. Still developing
Tiziani - drafted last year.

That's about it in their entire existence (ignoring the rookie draft).

1 player no longer on a list from outside the 1st round

Of their 1st rounders; Sumner and Jaksch are the only 2 no longer on a list. And they had their chances at Carlton and didn't make it.

Organic growth will be interesting with all their first rounders. Some of their top end are at their peak already though.
They need a small forward in the Betts mould.

They need a small forward in the Betts mould.
Toby Greene turns 24 tomorrow, arguably had a better all-round season than Betts, and has the ability to take a contested mark and move up the ground if needed as well.

Their forward line would look a lot better with a fit and firing Jeremy Cameron and Devon Smith, along with Rory Lobb spending more time up there (as he's an elite contested mark) than in the ruck. Add in further fitness and improvement from Jonathon Patton and Tim Taranto, with their midfield supply, they'll be a high-octane unit going forward.

I posted a thread earlier this year (which got merged into other discussion) which discussed whether 2017 was a season too early for the "assumed" GWS "dominance", and I still hold true to that idea. Whilst I don't think they're just going to reel off premierships, I think next year is when their window should begin, and it should be "GF or bust", after two straight prelim losses, and the majority of their best players coming into that prime age range (25-29 years old).
