Gysberts

did you hear kelly underwood during the game she couldnt even say his name right at the start..
she's like "Gsbet. no rather Gsbet" haha poor form.

Not saying I don't agree, just saying that we might be getting ahead of ourselves. Gysberts will be great, but lets give him time. I'm sure a few people will be jumping off the bandwagon after a few inevitably few poor weeks.
I'm not fully sold on him. Whilst he isn't small and doesn't appear overly slow he definitely looks more of an inside player, who is better by hand than foot. So that raises the question of whether he'll be able to add other facets to his game or be dominant inside enough to make it in the long term. I see his height and ball finding ability as good positives but you never know.

Someone might have to make way from Moloney, Jones, Gysberts and McKenzie as we beef up our outside midfield stocks along with more complete midfielders like Scully and Trengove.

That doesn't take away from how impressed I was to see a young guy come in and look at home against the games best. Next to come are Tapscott and Blease towards the end the year!

I think even with his poor debut today Bailey will give him a minimum 200-250 games to get himself right...

ha - nice post :D

I think you would find it hard to find a Melbourne supporter who would take McLean back for Gysberts right now - or a Carlton supporter who wouldnt take the swap back.

Surprising from you MB. I watched a bit of his juniors and he has terrifically clean hands under pressure and he has a natural instinct to block and create space for his teamates at stoppages and in traffic. I cant think of a better type to be lining up alongside Scully and Trengove in the centre square.

I am very excited about this lad - I think hes going to be our biggest surprise over the next 10 years.

Came third in nathan buckley's 'kicking test' behind gary rohan and dustin martin

I wouldn't be dropping Moloney! Reckon he's been really good this year, finally found some game time after a few years of injury. I don't really agree on Blease though, there's too much class ahead of him.

Not saying I would.

What I'm saying is more for years down the track than this year, and it certainly wouldn't be Moloney this year.

Blease and Tapscott I'm just looking forward to stringing games together at Casey and if they manage to crack a debut then that is great. That said I agree they might be stuck behind a que -just look at Gysberts how it took him till round 10 after playing solid footy for Casey. But then again they might get a soft debut game in the last few rounds similar to Rohan Bail last year or Grimes the year before. Fit and playing solid footy for Casey seniors would be a good start.

Yep. He doesnt have the ultimate technique but he is super efficient buy foot and hand. No problems here.

We might have to wait a little bit to see his 2nd game, as there is talk of a slight knee strain that might be treated with caution... I'm hoping he plays, as I said earlier he reminds me of Corey with his poise & time to dispose of the ball & hit a target....

Agreed - amazingly similar - I can see him ending up playing accross halfback and in the middle just like Corey too.

Agree with you "Telko " this kid shows everything that Watts doesn't show.
Looks like he belongs out there after just two games.
He will be at melbourne winning games when Watts is long gone.

Yes because it makes a whole lot of sense to compare a KPF who take years to develop the body required to play to their potential with a midfielder.

At first I was in agreement with your posts about Watts, understanding them and your concerns. Now it's become apparent that your hate is akin to LS' of Rivers.

A year ago I would have said that jordan was up there with the worst names in the english language. Now I'm considering calling one of my future kids that. McGybsie:):thumbsu:

Perhaps I have been a little hard on "jack"
Gys will win a lot more games than "Jack"
Happy with that?
As well I don't hate him he seems a nice kid ( that may be part of the problem ) I think he is trying hard but it is just not happening for him in a poor forward line.
He needs to play a lot more games at Casey.
I look forward to the day you can bag me for my comments on Jack Watts.

Glad we picked up this guy over that hack Kane Lucas. Lucas has shocking disposal and only gets an inflated stats sheet due to the way Carlton play. I bet Ratten and co were cursing themselves on Saturday watching Gyssy tear it up.
