Very true. From a virtual nobody to AA monty you'd think.Easton Wood fits the bill this year, hopefully he can sustain it!
i personally never saw GAJ as a hack early on. You could see the talent. But like Rockliff, I thought he'd be no more than a handy forward.Surprised noone has said GAJ yet
At the age of 34 he still got 15 votes in the Brownlow.I don't think Tuck was ever the star as such especially playing in those strong Hawthorn lineups. Very durable player who always played his part.

Really? I think you're very wrong.Shane Crawford's first few seasons were very average. Didn't really start to stamp his talent on the game until after his return from a broken ankle in late 90's. Within 2 years he won the Brownlow and continued his stardom.

In his second year of footy he averaged 21 disposals and a goal a game.
Wasn't he considered best afield in the 78 GF? That was first season. The Big Dipper owns this fred.

Fair enough. He was a possible hack with one very outstanding performance on his resumè on the biggest stage in footy.Indeed he was....He only got a gig in that game, as David O'Halloran wrecked his knee in the Second Semi.
It took Dipper until 1983 to become a senior regular....Played over 100 reserves matches.
1984 was his break-out year, after having been on our list since 1975!
