Dawson!

I thought he had a miserable day by all accounts! That wayward handball to Heffernan towards the end might just have lost us the game! :p
If you see the reply, he was being swung around while trying to handball a cake of soap, very hard to hit a target in those conditions. Everitt went to punch a ball not long after and his hand slipped off the ball just like Dawson's. It didn't get highlighted though, as it was only a ruck contest. Put it this way, we could always have Jonathon Hay back !!!!

On another note, Hay and Thompson on the bench at the end for North, Jade in the 2s. They all decide to leave Hawthorn, they weren't pushed. We are 5th, they are second last. All 3 look to have the decision making skills of the Bali 9 at the moment for that choice

Go Hawks

In case someone didn't notice, that was monsoon football & not champagne football during most of the 4th quarter Sunday. Dawson's error (as well as Monfries' miscue) were weather-induced to a certain extent and both players should learn from the conditions and the mistakes. It might be a while before either plays in rain that intense again to show what they took from the experience.
I thought Dawson showed he's making progress - some good solid marking and the shepherd he layed on Solomon (?) was very nice. He did give away a free (questionable? maybe) late in the first quarter and was fairly bettered on a few occasions, but he didn't look out of place for the most part. He made some good decisions, punched the ball away effectively, and used the boundary line well.
Tim Clarke was not only good, but he was the hub of the Hawks' attack. A great effort full of hard work and determination! If I had a say, he'd get the 3 Brownlow votes from this Round 5 game.

Dawson was fantastic, i'd like to see a stat on how many times he punched the ball away from a marking contest or his opponent. I'd say at least 5-6 times i thought "oh no"..and then a timely fist came and spoiled the mark.

I'ts really got me stuffed why people on here would berrate the kid as he was solid all day and only made the one big error that any number of experienced afl players could of aswell (see solomon).
Dawson 'will be a player'.
