Hall a bulldog

I for one would love to see hall in the red white and blue. Thug or not hes what we need. Plus I miss having the 'bad guys' in the team (Liberatore, Romero) Hall and Aker are a suitable replacement.

I would be REALLY disappointed if we go after that thug Barry Hall in the same week as we cast adrift a club champion Scott West.
I honestly do NOT want to win a flag if we have to do it by this means.
Loyalty is something you cannot buy.
I would be embarrassed to say I was a Doggies supporter of Hall was in the team.
Can't we pick young talents, nurture them, teach them the Doggies way ?Then if a flag comes, we know we deserved it rather than bought it by selling our soul?
And there in lies the perpetual problem.

The team exists to win premierships.

Individuals, be they club legends or fringe players, are only a part of the collective, and the collective is what counts.

We made a tough call on West based on what's best for the collective.

Having a 'thug' like Hall in the team would ABSOLUTELY 100% make us a better team. It would make us a premiership threat NEXT SEASON. No doubt.

We've had a tonne of high picks, traded blokes left right and centre, and we haven't won a flag. We've nutured the young and we haven't got a flag.

It can go on and on, and still no flag.

I'm not saying throw the future away for 1 shot at a premiership, but be smart about it.

Next year is a window. IMO the year after we'll drop a bit. Aker, Johno, Hudson, Welsh - all out the door or very much in decline in 2010. Hall would be the icing on the cake for next year, and perhaps the year after.

Hopefully from 2010, Ward, Hill, Grant et al are able to pick up the mantle and we don't drop a load, but maybe we will.

Next year is our best shot.
Get Hall.

LOL @ people thinking Ray is going to Sydney.

Farren will be heading home back to WA, with a possible swap option for Ashely Hansen.

John Worsfold has already contacted the club & Ray about his, and that was before the Geelong match.

Hall is crap, he's past it, can't mark misses goals, he's a brute, attitude problem, his complaining to the umpires would make johnno look calm and collected.

plus after all these years of bagging the crap out of him and hating his guts, If he comes to the dogs I'll be a hypocrite. Not worth it, stick with Minson Skipper and give Grant a go and draft the next buddy.

Living in Sydney, I've probably seen more of Hall than many of you. On song, he is terrific but i have a theory about the Swans in recent seasons - stop O'Keefe and you stop them.

He would make a big difference to us obviously, straightening us up and offering a real target when we pointlessly bomb in.

But to make the GF, we have to play consistently well as we did in the PF, make the most out of our average rucks, and hope that our younger players continue to develop to offset the decline in our older players.

If we slip back in form and effort or defend poorly in the midfield and up forward or can't win the clearances then Hall won't get us over the line.

We only need a target up forward, not a Franklin or a Fevola who will kick bags.

When everything goes down the drain, we need someone to kick long to under pressure. We currently don't have that now, which is why we struggle during finals.

Look at Geelong, they don't have a superstar power forward. Mooney just does what needs to be done, make a contest and bring the ball to ground.

Would it be fair to say then for all players to first put themselves first ahead of the club!?

Loyalty by a player is never really rewarded in todays game !

I can confirm that Hall directly approached Eade and asked to be traded to us. The source is not the swans or us, but from someone close to Hall. Believe it or not.

Would it be good, it potentially elevates us to real contender. Our style of play would be devastating with Hall commanding the hot zone 30 from goal. Think about it, we switch play across the backline until Griff is released on the fat side and then instead of running to 50 to spot up a target he runs to 70 out and kicks long to Hall. He either marks or spills to Acker.

Is it worth the risk? Real contender or partial rebuild and wait for Grant. For my money I say take the risk.

Good points. need 40 games from someone like Hall.

i think hall is the answer for 2 years to allow the further development of our young talls, if we can get him cheaply enough of course :p

we call all specualte till the cows come home, but at the end of the day, lets see what the swans want for him and go from there!

cheers
