For all of North's so called "fight" we murdered them in close and won the hard footy. Cooney was amazing in close, on another level. Cross was throwing his body into hairy situations time and time again with little regard for himself. Boydy was the normal Boydy. Gia got hurt with Addison early and then got cleaned up, almost knocked out and kept fighting. With the stuff that required actual toughness and actually mattered we embarrassed them. Even Josh Hill whos' not the hardest player ever kicked a goal on Pratt, because Pratt who is apparently a tough player went to ground, while Hill kept his feet.

Well, look who their coach is. I had to laugh when Rocket was interviewed before the game and was asked about Scott's comments re Aker, and Rocket said "I didn't realise Brad had a sense of humour."

If it had of been Riewoldt today in that 2nd quarter instead of Hall there would have been frees, reports, 8 week suspensions, de-registration and public of the players involved, but nah, it's Barry Hall, lets do nothing.

Very true - this incident was handled very poorly by the umpires. Not sure if anyone else heard but a 3AW caller rang in and he mentioned that he had some radio that tuned in on the umpires and the umpire was heard to constantly warn Thompson not to keep niggling and elbowing, that if he did it three times a free kick would be paid to Hall. Didn't see many Hall get many free kicks.

Hall doesn't get the treatment Thompson gave him today because he's a great footballer - even though he has been one - he gets it because of his history. Unfortunately for him, you don't just serve your time and everyone forgets about it. In the past he's been known to snap, often to the detriment of his team, and so players want to test him out.

Barry has no one to blame for the niggle he got today other than Barry.

True, though Scott Thomson being the dirty player he is would've done the exact same thing to a James Hird type.

A defender will always do what ever he can do to put of an opponent , its up to the umpires to draw the line. Thompson does the exact same thing to Cam Mooney and he has had a holiday at least twice after playing on him

In the old days the umps would acknowledge the treatment and actually give a player like Hall "The Green Light". Something like" Yeah I know what he's doing Barry , you have ten minutes to square it up". When player knew this could happen very few treated the other with this type of cheap stuff.

Now of course that can't be done. Too much reviewing , too many cameras. So its up to an umpire , there s 3 on the field for heavens sake , to pay the free. "No contact unless within 5 Metres of the ball , do it again and its a free kick in square"

You tell me , if Hall got 3 free kicks and three goals in the first ten minutes whether it would have blown up like that?

I agree with this, which is why our former scragging players have no relevance to this.

Not really. There have been times when it was needed but really the ttest for our guys today was play the game and not worry about this stuff. North are a rabble and did not deserve our attention.

A fine for the wrestling report, but the misconduct charge could be tricky because while Rocket is correct in what he is saying, he does have some points remaining over his head from his time and Sydney and thus what could be a just a repemand could end up being a 1-2 week ban though no fault of his own.

No argument here, but have you seen some of the umpiring as of late? I have scant faith in umpires doing the right thing in general, let alone doing right by Baz. The Swans supporters were right - it's always open season on him.

Hopefully the AFL sees that the 3 umpires totally lost control of the situation and are punished accordingly. Hayden Kennedy must go - he has lost it this year, and Matt Stevic should get a week in "the bush".

If Vozzo, McBurney, or McInerney were doing the game they would have stamped it out a lot earlier by paying a few free kicks.

Thompson is a shitty defender, would not have him for free. Geez NM are shit, we are nowhere near optimum form yet we pump them. Very shitty club considering 70% of the 30k crowd was Bulldogs supporters, they have a fair few more premierships than us yet they are struggling to survive. They are going nowhere with that list and it is only a matter of time before they are gone and good riddance to useless shit.

North Melbourne may have let themselves down today, but they are an excellent club that faces a lot of the same things ours does.

I think you should reconsider your point of view on North Melbourne and their relevance to the competition.

Trial by video came about when Rodney Grinter smashed Terry Wallace's jaw. I'm not even sure Libba had started playing at that stage.

Just go back over the footage and see how many times Libba had a bandage on his head, a cut over the eyer or a sideways nose. Cameras don't catch everything mate, sure they've gotten better at it over the last few years but there is still a lot that doesn't get seen.
