Who will get the third captain's spot, Jude Bolton, Adam Goodes?

Who else is in the leadership group?

Maybe Jolly or O'loughlin or O'keefe or Malceski.

I'm pretty sure C. Bolton is also in the group.

Leo, Kirky, Baz, Mathews, J. Bolton, Goodes, C. Bolton.

Will Barry still be in the leadership group?

I'd love to see Malceski and ROK put in the leadership group. Jude should also be dropped.

Yay, Goodes for co-captain!

Maybe it's time to change back to sole captaincy and give it to Kirk, he's about the only one that really carried the team in terms of leadership last year anyway.

Otherwise, I would promote Goodes. Ever since he was left out of the original leadership group a few years back, he seems to treasure the leadership role quite a bit.

I would have liked to see that happen, but Roosy seems to be pretty happy with the co-captains thing. Just imagine us winning the premiership and for us to have co-captains going up to recieve the cup! Aw, it would be the cutest thing ever! I can't believe we were only 2 points away from that happening.. damn those Eagles.

Yup, it would mean so much to him.

This is great news for both Barry Hall and the Swans. Hall has obviously decided that it's in both parties best interests that he steps down to concentrate on regaining his position of AFL power forward and matchwinner (something he unfortunately lacked last season due to injury)!

IMO, there is only one solution to the captaincy conundrum...Kirk only! He IS both onfield and spiritual leader of our great club.

Haha, i gasped aswell. I've been hoping ever since the walk back from the MCG after we played Collingwood that Baz would step down but i can't believe it has actually happened.

It's great to see Hall getting on the front foot and wanting to make amends for a poor '07 season. Lets hope he can get back to his brilliant best.

Roosy has said that the 3 captain rotations is here to stay. I think that Goodsey will take over from Hall. There will also be some leadership changes with Mathews already stepping down and perhaps a few more.

Goodes to replace Hall as co-captain

Hall to fall back into the leadership group and Malceski to take Mathews spot in the leadership group. At least this is a sign that the playing group is as proactive as the coaching staff to make some changes for the good of the team.

Hopefully this kind of thing leads into team selection.....

Just saw this on the net and came running back!

How sad it is to see him stepping down, but it also opens a new window of opportunity to ratify and rearrange our leadership group.

In my opinion the most deserving contender for Co-Captain is Goodes. He sets an example week after week and creates a benchmark for the rest of the team.

Maybe this will be a break for Melcho?

I don't know if anyone else has picked up on it, but the recent turn of events are all potentially leading to a team led by and composed of younger players..

Barry Hall was given the co-captaincy to try and calm him down on the field and i think it worked. Since he is no longer a co-captain does this mean we will now see the Barry Hall which earnt the nickname Big Bad Bustling Barry Hall?

the brave move would be malceski into the three-way rotation, but it's likely to be goodes
malceski is a captain in waiting, as far as i'm concerned, one of the smartest, shrewdest players in our club....in the league

maybe roosy will surprise everyone and just put Melcho in?
i'd do it, but then i'd cut leo too, and promote goodes
although i also tend to agree with the post about kirk being outright captain....i mean, do we NEED anyone else in charge?
kirk skipper, malch his deputy and long-term successor

goodes should be co captain with kirky, when are swans supporters going to accept that goodes is one of the greats of our club.
and by the way i carn't see mcveigh being added to the leadership group

just curious, malceski will definately be a great player but is he leadership material? what has he shown in the way of leadership to be considered for captaincy?
He had a stint as a assistant coach for the reserves when he was injured and when he came back from injuries, he was an vocal and outstanding leader in the reserves. Definitely the one with the most leadership qualities out of the younger players.

Thats some comforting news thats theirs a leader in the making. I think we should go back to the single captain mode tbh..

It's way top early to even consider Malceski for a leadership role. He has only had one outstanding season. He was good in patches in '06 but '07 was really a breakout year for him. He would need to back it up with another solid season next year to be considered for a leadership role. He has Craig Bolton ahead of him at the moment anyway.
