I was more referring to the North players running from all angles to stop Hall from going to the bench, perhaps 'disgraceful' was a bit of a stretch, but they were completely unnecessary. As for the Gia/Addison head clash, that was certainly not the fault of North players, but there were definitely a few cheap hits after our players had gotten rid of the ball, including Gia late in the game. Not worth much of a mention, happens all the time...but the point is, Rocket was not mentioning the head clash between two teammates .

So what was Rocket referring to when he said the Dogs had players with gashes to their heads due to cheap shots?

If you think a broken jaw is the just penalty for being nudged to the ground, I hope their are no women or children in your life. You sound like a Barry Hall style meathead.

You sound like someone who just got belted. Barry hall is a legend and a very genuine, top bloke in real life.

The end result is him getting into a wrestle and then playing his best quarter of footy of the game. I'll take that.

As my original post asked, I'm trying to figure out why any team would let their defenders niggle Barry (or in this specific case, play a 'serial-niggler' on him) when the benefits of doing so are non-existent for that team. Yet to see a good answer, which I suspect is because there is none.
You guys were gonna win regardless of Bazzas form.
Now Bazza has let your team down because he is going to cop a suspension due to the fact he has no self control and really cant cope with all elements of the game.

All you people saying his should have punched Scotty in the Jaw are complete bafoons. Because If you ever played the game you would know there are more annoying things that happen then getting pushed over tieing your laces.

he can't be trusted around people.

Remind me what his relationship problem was about again?

yeah because the media is trustworthy and reliable source of information when it comes to trashy gossip.

your unfounded opinion can't be trusted.

it's a contact sport and your ratbag of a defender came into contact with a legend and unfortunately got put in a head lock...

wow so much north supporters in this thread, looking at the bigfooty index the NM board also has by far the most posts and threads. If only these supporters rock up to their games or sign up for a membership

He is a violent man. Pretty naive to think people can limit it to the football field.

And the 'legend' once again lost his shit and came out looking like a goose.

This encounter was only on the under card, next weekend Thompson meets his match ...........

Yes the one and only Hayden Ballantyne, knocking someone over whilst they do up their boot is a childs trick to Hayden. Bring it on he yaps.

Balla has already written out the $900 cheque, ready to sent to the AFL after next weekend.

Let's see how many North players fly off the handle like a a socially deranged hermit after Ballantyne's annoying yet totally legitimate tactics

Yea right like the Doggies are a Big Club. The only difference between you and us is that your suppossed to win a premiership and we are supposed to win a spoon. I can asure you neither of those will happen and I can assure you, that the Dogs will drop to the bottom half in years to come and be rebuilding. Then I post similiar to what you have posted.

he is aggressive on the field, off it he is a gentle giant.

again you haven't a clue, judging by most peoples responses, thompson and his supporters are looking like geese

As a few North supporters said, Thompson does this pretty much every other week & hardly anything is made of it.

The best example was Late last year when we played Carlton, Thompson did all the same things to Fevola, which was followed by a lot of push & shove, and a Fev kiss. Seriously, it was entertaining & everything was hunky dory after the game. Fev shaked hands (unlike someone else) when Thompson offered his hand, and there was nada talk about Thompson's tactics. Today, there is. Gee, I wonder what's the difference!?

Hell, I think I just gave Fev a back-handed compliment.

haha just looked back at the amount of north people posting... this thread died long ago. its ok, you have the rest of the year to reflect on this as i doubt much else exciting is going to happen down there.

yep, the swans a sucking too, thanks.

You had better win this year, because it will be a long road back with that aging list.

For all the talk of our aging list, particularly the forward line, it should be mentioned that 20 year old Jarrod Grant, 21 year old Josh Hill and 21 year old Brennan Stack combined for as many goals as the whole North side yesterday

So you're saying that no Dog came to help their mate out?

Cool :thumbsu:

Maybe the Dogs players were more concentrating on being hard at the footy. The Dogs attack on the footy seemed to have more of an effect on the result than the niggling on Barry did

Now Bazza has let your team down because he is going to cop a suspension due to the fact he has no self control and really cant cope with all elements of the game.

Again though, what does North have to gain from Barry letting the Bulldogs down? I doubt Brad Scott brought the team in after the game and said "Well boys, we got flogged, but at least Barry let his team down. Now let's take advantage of that fact when we play Fremantle next week!"

Let's say Barry gets suspended for 3 weeks, that means Essendon, Collingwood and Brisbane don't have to play against him. Two of those three teams are currently on the same number of wins as North, which essentially means that North has helped their direct rivals by aiming to get Barry suspended (if that was indeed the plan, given 'putting him of his game' has been proven ineffective).

So what was Rocket referring to when he said the Dogs had players with gashes to their heads due to cheap shots?

I think Rocket may have been a little confused there, but there were still a couple of questionable actions from North players, even if they weren't quite enough to result in suspensions.
Firrito, while his bumps weren't generally high (unsure about the Gia one), did time them so as to hit the Bulldogs players when they were at their most exposed and unable to defend themselves; as they were disposing of the ball. Cheap is a strong word, but given these circumstances, the hits were definitely 'easy'.
McMahon putting his knee into Picken and Cooney in separate incidents was stupid. Seriously, what the hell was he thinking.

I think the question needs to be asked again - only this time in english.

Or have I deciphered it correctly and you're advocating an invasion of the arena? I would have been keen but I was up the back of the third tier and forgot to pack my hang-glider.

Pay that:thumbsu:

Now GTFO

It was harmless niggle but it was enough to become annoying to the point whereby it warranted a reaction. I dont know any footballer who would put up with that crap and Hall had every right to stand up to it.
One thing that makes the game ugly and people dont like to see is hacks like Thompson who have got no football ability at all out there use those types of niggling tactics to put people off.

Well there's the 15 other FF's who cop it every week.

Hall should of belted the mug. The bloke takes on and beats 4 opponents in a wrestle and then we have to listen to the collective North Melbourne supporter base crying fowl into their tampons.

Good on Hall. :thumbsu:

Its players like that that are the reason your sitting close to the bottom of the ladder so if you think thats great and is going to make North a better side your dreaming. Maybe Thompson should have a look at how the better backmen such as Scarlett play the game because he just might learn something

Geelong wanted to pick Thompson up as he was "Scarlett MKII".

You're better off suggesting someone other than the one player he has been likened to in terms of how he plays (obviously not quite as good).

See my post at the bottom of the previous page about Brendan Fevola last season.

Yes, the frontrunners in the forward line had a good day yesterday.

I'm puzzled by the number of Dogflogs crowing about how they won all the hard ball yesterday because North were supposedly playing the man.

The Dogs won because they used the ball a whole lot better than North yesterday, not because of some imaginary superiority in courage or hard-ball gets.
