One of my favourite times of year. My kids rate it just behind Christmas. Looks like the weather will be ok over the weekend for different activities so people should be out and about.
Kids love it. Fun walking around the community at dusk seeing everyone else have a great time.

There are a few houses around my neighbourhood that have put in a pretty good effort decorating their houses.

Is cool to see, especially during a LD and all you can do is go for a walk anyway.

Haven't had to think about while it was building in popularity as my last house had high fences and gates which no kid could open and even adults had trouble with.
Have slightly gotten into the spirit but lacked the time to put anything together.

My interest is mainly what disgusting or questionable lollies I can give to neighbourhood children. I have a big stash of warheads and double-salted Dutch licorice and haven't had time to get much else. Still need to get licorice allsorts, black jellybeans, and those aniseed balls with 100's and 1000's on them. There must be others.

What's your address? I'll have all the Dutch licorice please.

Salt and licorice should not go together.

You ever try Dutch licorice? Used to love the stuff at high school in the early to mid 80s, Zouts!

We visited friends at the start of last year in The Entrance in NSW and went up to Newcastle, there was a lolly shop that had all sorts of goodies, including Dutch licorice and Big Red cinnamon chewing gum.

My family are Dutch so I was subjected to it as a child.
I do enjoy a good speculaas or bokkenpootje however.

am partial to stroopwaffels and ontbijtkoek myself. i found a salted caramel ontbijkoek online as well which is a bit wrong but a bit delicious too. am yet to see it again at the online dutch food places i frequent.
dutch on my other half's side, so i've had a few speculaas in my time.
