Halloween?

are you rtrd? there were parents with them at the end of the driveway and they weren't begging. no other adult told them to **** off that night so what you're saying is that this one bloke was right and all other adults were wrong?
typical mantis logic, no wonder you cop it so much in nearly every other thread you post in. now give it a rest or i'll end up putting you on ignore like hundreds of others have.

Go for it, but like my stalkers show they don't actually do it. :D

If they weren't begging, then what were they doing, knocking on peoples doors just to say hello & have a nice evening.

Cry all you want, but if you let your kids go around annoying people in their own homes expecting them to be rewarded, then you are the problem, not the person who gets fed up with it.

can you seriously stfu with saying its begging
its not begging these kids aren't poor or homeless you stupid old lady, wtf is wrong with you seriously? go jump of a cliff no one will miss you...including your kids

It's begging, they go to a strangers door asking for lollies, how is that not begging? If they aren't poor or homeless, then why are they annoying strangers asking for lollies, their parents should be buying them for their kids.

Re: Halloween

Halloween is great fun, but kids going around to stranger's houses trick or treating is so old fashioned.

These days it is all about Halloween parties at someone's place decorated as a haunted house, where everyone dresses up as their favorite ghoul with themed food, "scary" games and horror movies on the tv.

Some of the local kids still go trick or treating, but it is well organised with parental supervision. Those houses that want to be involved and give out treats are encouraged to put a jack o lantern in their front window or on their door.

bottom line is, Halloween has no place in Australian culture

end thread

sure, as long as you get other parents to supervise your kids, and expect every home to give lollies and act nice towards your children, i can't see any reason why we shouldnt embrace such a great event. then we could celebrate the 4th of july and and have hotdog eating contests:rolleyes:

if you are such a protective parent wouldn't you want to be there not other kids parents?
if those parents cared they would of noticed a change in mood, because if i was 6 i wouldn't be acting the same if some bloke told me to piss off.

read all posts bellend, earlier i said my wife was with them.
besides, you would probably be tough and tell the guy to get ****ed then wouldn't you hero.

so you are saying that the one bloke with the bad attitude was in the right and the 15 or so other houses they went to who were happy to oblige were in the wrong?

as for stalkers, jesus who would want to stalk you. you need to stop smoking crack because even peter hore wouldn't bother annoying you.

The parents from across the road came and gave us lollies before hand to give to their kids. That was thoughtful as last year there were kids knocking on our doors who we'd never seen so I just gave them muesli bars and crackers.

Don't really know why we "celebrate." Don't even know why people in America or the UK celebrate Halloween.

I'm all for that, seeing that is my birthday.:D

Trick-or-treating is a custom for children on Halloween. Children proceed in costume from house to house, asking for treats such as candy, or sometimes money, with the question, "Trick or treat?".
Understand?

Not sure if you are on my side or not, but children begging for lollies or money is a disgrace & their parents need a good kick up the arse.
You are drawing parallels that don't exist. It's called trick or treating, it's what some kids do on Halloween. The whole 'ZOMG WHAT, THEY BEG FOR CANDY AND ARE BASICALLY STEALING FROM THE HOMELESS AND STARVING AFRICANS' is just odd.

Fair enough if you don't like Halloween but it hardly is an excuse for people to be ********s towards children.

I'm not a bastard towards kids on Halloween, just put Kerny on the front verandah & see how many kids are desperate enough to beg for lollies.:D

they're little kids ********. how can you not blame an adult if they say they'll give a kid a hiding for knocking on a door. read my earlier post, as i said i dont really agree with it but each to their own.
with a bit of luck that door i'll be knocking on tomorrow will be yours
Have a cry. Yes the person shouldn't say they'll hit your kids but they have every right to say **** off get off my property.

Can't really see anything wrong with it...

Get's the kids out meeting their neighbours and for those of us without kids/not kids, an excuse to dress up and have a good party.

This is one American trait I am happy we picked up.

Firstly as has been said before halloween has no place in Australian culture. Also the safety issues are too high to have kids go trick and treat. There have also been know cases in the U.S of kids being given poison candy when trick or treating.

I saw two great Johnny Depp-inspired costumes in the city last night here in Adelaide. The first was someone dressed as Raoul Duke from Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. He had the mannerisms down perfectly, and was really acting out the character. The second was a very detailed Edward Scissorhands costume. I'm talking spitting image stuff here. The mannerisms, facial expressions and walk were spot on.

As for Halloween in general - it's just a bit of fun for people of all ages, so who cares? I'm not massively into it, and I'm not one for dressing up myself, but it impresses me when people go to an effort and really look the part, and I don't have a problem with having a bit of fun just for the sake of it.

We had 4 lots of kids come to our house. We had bought a couple of bags of different chocolates for the night and handed them out. The smaller kids had parents at the end of the driveway, the slightly older ones would still have been primary school age and their parents were not visible but may have been hanging back.

All of the kids were polite and seemed to be enjoying themselves.

I have no problem with it. The kids are enjoying themselves and if we embrace it as a bit of fun, there is no harm done.

UnAustralian, you deserve to be deported.

It is his property, they were trespassing little yanks, they're not even Australian so he can say what he likes.
