Baz got 7 weeks plus a 90-point carryover
i reckon that's fair enough, and maybe a tad lucky going on the media hypestorm
now let's get on with footy

And Mooney has just got off for this weeks game. sorry guys
No worries.

His Verdict won't trip us up .

7, I tipped it at work, wont give him 6 as his comeback game would have been against the Eagles.

We'll miss him, particularly in the big clashes like Geelong but I also believe we have other avenues to goal as well.

Its happened lets move on.

Got to look at the positives.

It might give a Grundy or a White an opportunity to cement a spot and make us use other avenues to goal

It will reduce the odds of him developing another groin injury and might help get him in better shape for the run into the finals.

It will put the fear of god into any future opponents and might make them less likely to grab his arms, throat etc

It might draw some attention to and rectify the fact that he can't get free kicks no matter what happens to him in marking contests.

It could create a leadership vaccuum that might further develop some of the younger players.

He might come back even more determined and focused to make ammends

does anyone else think that it would be a good move putting goodes at chf?

just think he's the only one that can cover halls loss, his experience will be needed in such an important possie. rok isnt tall enough, even though he plays tall, davis isnt big enough and mol doesnt have enough petrol in the tank to go at chf.

That's exactly what I reckon. Like, exactly. Look at what I said in the Davis thread.

On Hall, I thought I he was gonna get 10-12 so good outcome I guess, he got just over half that.

7 weeks sounds about right to me. He hasn't been suspended since 2002. I'm glad we're not going to appeal, even though there would be a chance of a reduced sentence. I think choosing to accept the decision, whatever it might be, sent all the right signals too.

We'll porbbly try that, but I don't think it'll work.
Goodes for me, is someone that needs a lot of touches to be effective, he needs his hands on the ball and feels as though he needs to involve in every play.

Making lots of unfruitful leads is not his forte (it's actually quite amazing the amount of repeat leads that Magic and Hall makes, considering their ages) and I think he'll really struggle if he was a full time forward. And his marking isn't that great anyway - he's real athletic, but his timing/judging of the ball in flight isn't top-class.

He's at his best roaming in midfield or playing as that mobile ruckman (but it also buggered up his knees).

We'll probably rotate O'Keefe (who is our best mark, especially contested in the forward line), Magic and Davis (if he's fit) between the FF, CHF positions, I reckon, with LRT pinch-hitting every now and then.

Alot of people on here were saying 8 -10 and thats what he got 9 but it was reduced down to 7 because of his early plea.

I (for once) agree with KB this morning in that if your case gets reffered straight to the tribunral then the guilty plea reduction should no longer be and option.

As others have said, 7 weeks is a pretty fair result. People are whinging about the 25% discount, the same kind of people who want to get rid of the parole system every time a notorious criminal is up for release. Rules are there for a reason, and he got deservedly rewarded for 5 years of clean living (inb4 "lol maguire 2005").

Still a huge blow to our side though. We might be able to re-structure pretty successfully, but I don't think anyone could argue that we wouldn't benefit from him playing. At least we can be fairly assured that he won't pull this kind of shit again.

Ah well, could've been worse. Its great to see Baz taking full responsibility for his actions, first step to gaining the team's respect. Moving on.
