Correct ITB, the skill was never there, you can only get buy on bully boy tactics for so long. Eventually you have to be able to play skilful footy, especially when you get a five year deal.

Fireman was telling us he would be back 12 and 24 months ago and nothing at all has changed. Hamill is still injured and Fireman is still speaking out his ring hole.

That's the point Hamill was worth the money, why do you think your fellow Lemmings were bitching and moaning when he left??? Ackland has already proven he is not worth what he has asked, simple really, I don't wonder why you can't grap this (mono brow?):p We paid the right amount, who can foretell injury, the guy is a class footballer.

Sorry, when exactly was the "hard man" worth the $400k odd he was asking for?? When has a flanker sized key position forward who averages 0.85 goals a game and about twice as many possesions worth that much? And did you personally go around asking all the lemmings on their thoughts when he left or is that the general vibe you get? So again, please confirm whether Hammil has proven that he is worth what he asked and got for (unlike Ackland)? I dont give a ******** about hindsight or any other deflections you use, simple question: has he EVER been worth the money he has been paid?

For the record, Hammil has never been a class footballer but thankfully for StKilda he's a class clubman. What more could any club ask for? A faithful servant, patting the boys on the back after the game and skinning the club for years.

Mono-brow?? Great call... Sounds a lot like mono-flag.
So clouded by your bitterness Bazza, you know he was worth the money but you can't blame the bloke for giving your rotten club the flick, seriously even you can't blame him for that, so why the bitterness? You are on here to gloat over the fact that the guy is injured , pure and simple and to say he wasn't worth the money at the time is sour grapes or a short memory, you Lemmings loved the bloke and for good reason, class player.
Let it go Bazza.:)
Oh and good luck this year, some more fun ahead.

Your a lovely piece of work Linda:eek: Are you saying he wasn't a skillful player?
Oh and please let me know where I said he would be back?

Ohhh the deflections Firey. Firstly, I am not bitter. Why do you say that? Trent Sporn had more impact over the past few seasons so I could not possibly be bitter. Secondly, I repeat, has he EVER been worth what he asked for and received? EVER? Your deflections are becoming legendary. Finally, how can you call him a class player?? Class equates to skill and lets face it, he's not the most skilfull bloke going around... Or is he Firey? Please tell me all about his skill... He is "hard" though.

if skill for a key forward is being able to (a) kick and (b) kick goals then no the skill is and has never been there for hamill

any coincidence that as the game has sped up and his dirty tactics have become harder and harder to disguise that he has started to break down and become even less influential? i think not

a terrible career, made marginally ok by 2 good years

Fireman, this ring a bell, only a page or two ago:

Hamill is still a chance to return mid season so let's all hope for his speedy recovery.
What skills did he have? Well he certainly did not have skills when it came to kicking goals or getting a lot of the ball. When it came to finals influence he made Leon Davis look like a gun. WTF did he ever acheive apart from 'making St Kilda players walk taller'?. All Oz? B&F, Brownlow, remember you reckon the bloke is a gun player. Show me something to prove that.

lol, where have I deflected? I have said it straight and you know it.
Anyone who claims that Hamill is not a skillful player is either lying (due to bitterness) or just plain stupid ( little knowledge of the game )
Great mark, kick and tackler, tough and good skills at ground level.
Saw him win 2 on ones on many occasions, a pleasure to watch.
No deflection there Bazza so you'll have to come up with something else :)
Class.

:thumbsu: :D :thumbsu: But I think Grant Thomas can also take some credit for that. Isnt it funny how Firey is correct about Hammil's "class"/"skill" and all of us are wrong

you poor thing, so Collingwood:eek:
Where did I say when he was coming back? I said he was still a chance, do you see a difference there? I suppose not.
I was quoting Ken Sheldon so how is that talking out of my behind? Would you like to explain that for everyone?
As I have said to you before , you would have to be happy with the drop in babana prices.

Laughed when the gave him a 5 year deal. Laughed...
Two things:

1. Clubs who sign 5 year deals with their players are completely mad.

2. The way Hamill plays, the way he uses his body as a batering ram, surely must have the St.Kilda Board at least sceptical about doing a 5 year deal with him.

Defend it all you like Saints fans, but this a blunder of epic proportions.

not kicking goals, or playing well in finals

even at carlton he was absolutely towelled in 99 and 00 by a very young solomon in prelim finals

Seems like quite a few posters from quite a few clubs share the view that Hamill was not much chop.

But be careful of fireman will put us all in his tool-shed.

Class.
Firey, I actually thought you followed the footy but this post astounds even me.

Great mark? On his chest maybe... Overhead? No better than your Brent Guerra types.
Great kick? :D I know you put that in there to catch me out. Not this time sunshine.
Great tackler? Ok, he's not bad, I'll pay that one.
Tough? Is that why he breaks down every time he comes back from injury?
Good skills at ground level? Being the size of a midfielder, they should be a lot better. Aveage at best.

Just listen to the people Firey. They have spoken. He's shyt

Ha ha Fireman, so tell us again how good Grant Thomas was! We, as opposition supporters love him. Not only did he stuff up and fail to deliver a flag, he also gave us the Aaron Hamill, 5 year deal.

Thomas really is the gift that keeps on giving. He might gone but his stench hangs heavy in the air at Moorabin.

Barry he was not shyt, he was just a good average AFL player who gave 110% when on the park. He was a journeyman who was elevated to something he never was.

One of my mates called him the poor mans Jarrod Molloy and it is an apt comparison.

Bingo, even last year he had a whopping 4 touches and got physically bullied by Jared Rivers and Nathan Carrol - he has well and truly lost whatever it was he had.

And all for 500k a year.

Career ended doing what he did best. Trying to deliver a knee into the mid section of an unsuspecting player that had eyes only for the ball. Suck ********! :D

I'm a big fan of Hamill and wish we had a player of his type at the Tigers.

Wouldn't wish ill on him whatsoever and hiopefully it's not the last we'll see of him.

It does put a big dent in the Saints finals hopes.
