One only hopes that in the short term future an employer at channel 7 realises how bad they are and their days spoiling sporting broadcasts will be over.

Should start a tin rattling fund on behalf of channel 10 so channel 7 dont get the rights back.

Eh, we might have to put up with Robert Walls but I'm willing to make that sacrifice to get bignose and romping out of the box.

Couldn't find a thread on him as a footy commentator.
He must be the most boring commentator on TV. His voice is so monotone. He is completely flat and is unable to inject any excitement.

I just watched the replay of today's game, and I wanted to post exactly what you wrote.

Channel 7 - sack Hamish!

That's two Sunday thrillers (Rich v Coll, Coll v North) he's killed with his boring, monotonous commentating.

Does he think he is cool or funny by calling Jamie Elliott "Billy"?
It is his nickname and many Pies supporters call it out at the games...RW is just doing what he has probably tried to do his whole life...fitting in with what all the cool kids are doing.

In the St Kilda/West Coast game, 'Roberts' got a touch of the football. Occasionally commentators get names wrong (Hamish more than most) but how do you call a name that isn't on the list of either club?

And for the record, Jackson Nelson had the ball and Dylan Roberton was nowhere nearby.

Just the one 'Billy' Elliott from this bloke today? Thankyou Channel 7 management. Hopefully that tired last quarter lapse cost him $50 into the swear jar as well.

When he made the 'Kasparov' reference about Pendlebury's decision-making you just knew he'd googled "good chess player" before the game.

Also he called him Billy Elliott about 50 times today. That is seriously the most annoying shit I've ever heard.

There should be a strict rule for all commentators - no use of player nicknames!
As much as Hammer and the other commentators would want them to, the players are not their mates - and neither are we (the audience) for that matter.

Ah ok I must have repressed it along with my first few years at Catholic school.
