Improving with each and every game which is why it is important for us to leave him in the seniors for as long as possible.

His ball handling skills are improving as he gets more of it and he looks like he is gaining in confidence. His marks are beginning to stick in the hands which is promising.

In the ruck his huge leap is a great advantage because he can jump all over his opponents. He has a long way to go in terms of directing his taps but it wasn't so long ago that he struggled to get his hands on the ball at all.

He's got a long way to go but he's developing very nicely, without a doubt. With each and every game he does something that makes you think "how did he do that!?!". It won't be so long before he's doing that consistently in games.

How good was his handball receive from Kreuzer and run against the Lions. Looked like a gazelle. Had me very VERY excited :thumbsu: :D

Was just about to say the same thing J. That was a critical point in the last quarter. Both him and Kruezer running side by side probably would have out sprinted alot of other players.

Two mobile ruckman playing is so good to watch. Am loving their development.:thumbsu: Well done Hammer.

Gee you are hard to please. :(
I am aren't I.... with good reason...that goal nearly closed the game on us. I believe that Hampson can be an amazing player if he keeps getting games in our top 22. He needs to work on his ruck-work and his set shots at goal.

For sure, that and a number of other things that happened in the last quarter that let the lions back in. But this is a toast thread. Anyway, I agree with your final comments.

I'm sure that the GC will put in an offer for him....I think Carlton might get rid of either: Hampson or Jacobs....

that dash he did from a handball from Kruezer was amazing, this was the first time I have seen him run like that, he really lifted his legs up to run and no wonder why he's the fastest player in our club. Don't get to see him run like that very often though.

It is great to see him developing so well, especially after all the rubbish rucks we drafted over the years.................the funny thing is the way he plays and his athetesism reminds me of another likely type we had on our list a number of years ago, who was well and truly a head case and went completely off the rails onto the "persian rugs"!

Don't crucify me but his body shape, movement and athletisism remind me of non other than Laurence Angwin, who was a considerable natural talent that was an absolute waste in terms of the game due to his own morals and sense of ethics.

Obviously Hampson has no such issues and will continue to improve and impress us all.......and my comparison to Angwin will remain with athletic attributes only.

Jesus, he'd burn like Helen Keller's toast.

haha found this on google

He has amazing speed, I dare say he would be quicker than Kruz?

I dare say he'd be quicker than alot of the players on our list LOL.

I always knew he was very quick, and yes quicker than Kreuz even, but that bit of play after recieving from K-man.... wow.

He slammed himself into top gear and really put on the afterburners. I've never seen him do something like that, so I literally gasped and said, "Holy sh!t...!"

But it's not just the speed factor of that piece of play that pleased me. It's the desperation and intensity he showed in a time when we really needed things to happen, and then to accelerate and actually manage to kick the ball to Fev while running like that was amazing.
Truly a freak.
He's gonna make some mistakes for sure, we'll have to deal with that, but he's improving and goddamn it's looking like it's well worth getting as much games and confidence into him as possible, because he could be a real player for the future.

never seen a big 200cm ruckman run as fast as hammer did and finish it off with a PERFECT pass to fev:thumbsu:
his fault atm is definantly his rucktaps, but that will come with practise
i like the look of his marking, he takes a couple good strong marks a game and the occasional one where he doesnt even touch it!!

loving the look of him :thumbsu:

Just hope he is ok for this week as on the Carlton Website today he mentions his knee is sore after a knock against WCE and again against the Lions.

Hammer's effective hit out stats were much better than Kreuze's on Sat.

The big men have to take a lot more marks. Only 3 in total between Kreuze(2), Hammo(1) and Carlos(0).
