Hannebery

I see pretty much every game every weekend; Dangerfield is a sensational footballer. That's not reflection at all on Hannebery.

Dangerfield does harder stuff than Hannebery (which isn't a knock on Hannebery). Fantastic inside player, fantastic outside player, very good resting full forward. It's incredible to watch.

Fair call. I wont argue against someone that watches all the adelaide games. So I will accept it.

What i was just writing about was mainly going off the talk about dangerfield struggling with the tag this year (a couple of unproductive games) and the stats. Hanners has some surprising statistics that on paper that match Dangerfield.

But stats never paint the full picture :)

I actually think Hanners has been more consistent than Danger this year. Dangers bets game against the hawks would be the best game of the lat but his for, has been patchy through matches. Hanners has been consistantly there week in week out all game.

"Dangers bets game against the hawks would be the best game of the lat but his for, has been patchy through matches."

maybe:
"Dangers best game against the hawks would be the best game of late but his form, has been patchy through matches."

I love drunk posts. I could have done a maybe quote with betting, but didnt want to go there.

You were close. Dangers game against the Hawks was the best of the lot

At least he got the drunk part right ;)

I wish I could have claimed it as so. I think I’m getting old and late night posting impacts me. I sent a pm as part of the crime board duties a few weeks ago at about 3am... the reply came back as undecipherable and he was right and I was writing like a 4 year old trying to write big words.

Anyway. Simply so far in 2013 in simple Bigfooty Speak

Hanners >>>>>>>>>>>> Danger

Good stuff.

When Everitt kicked the long ball out of defence, that Hannebery then ran on to and scored with, we had 2 guys running into the attacking 50 - Jetta and Hannebery. Jetta seemed to be the focus of the Fremantle defence, which left Hannebery free to run.

If he can keep scoring these outside running goals, it forces oppositions to be second guess themselves, and can only be a good thing for Jetta, too.

Realistically, we want Jetta, Hannebery, Jack and McVeigh to all regularly kick some of these outside-mid goals.

Jack and Hanners have been my two stand outs for this year, with McVeigh rounding out the top three. They seem to have a real hunger and intensity to improve on last year, that is disappointingly not being replicated in the rest of the team.

Tony Shaw on Hanners "His only weakness is he's too courageous for his own good"

Bookies are reporting that money is starting to flow in consistently for Hanners on the Brownlow in the last week or two.

A bit of that is going to be there own laying off to steady the books but still a guide to how well the punters think he's going.

He was 100-1 at the start of the season, he is now into 2nd favourite only behind Ablett.

FWIW, he also has moved into second place in the AFLCA awards. Jack is 3rd and McVeigh is 5th from the whole comp, pretty good effort so far from the boys.

Kennedy is the #1 inside midfielder in the league for a ridiculous 3rd year in a row. Not getting as much credit as he deserves in 2013 due to others showing more flair and kicking goals.

I remember the outcry when Hanners won the rising star (as Dustin Martin was in eligible,) while Martin is still a good footballer, Hanners is now a sensational all round footballer, so from my stand point they made the right call, if you go by the award Rising star and its intent then a few years down the track you'd have to say Hanners star has risen well above Martin...
The kid is an out and out gun,

The kid is an out and out gun,

Mate I love Hanners but I have to say Martin is his equal, they both sensational players.

Dangerfield's fast but he seems to have to come off the after-burners to kick accurately. Quite a few times he broke away from a tailing Swan only to cough up the ball with a hurried kick inside 50. Other times he would slow down to dispose of the ball and risk getting caught. If speed is your thing you need to be able to operate all functions at speed. By comparison, Jetta could fill in his tax forms, knit some socks and juggle knives while at full speed (all while sipping a beer).

Me, I rate Hanners higher (as do the AFL coaches it seems)

I agree as my post says Martin is a very very good footballer, but I think Hanners shades him at the moment, mind you wouldn't complain if Martin was running through our midfield as well,
I probably didn't explain my post, but according to the selection a few years back it was Martin then daylight, a view I never shared, and for the time being through my eyes Hanners has him at this stage. :thumbsu:

I agree that Martin is a sensational and freaky footballer, beginning of last season I would have said they were equal but I think certainly from the 2nd half of last year and then again this year Hanners has taken his game to another level and also been incredibly consistent at it. There is no doubting Martin's ability and he probably has more raw ability then Hanners and is freakishly good patches of games but he is still yet to master how to perform consistently like that at AFL level like Hanners now has.
