What a fantastic morning!
It's a sunny 24 here in Melbourne. The birds are singing. I've got this huge chocolate egg to munch on and I don't have to go to work tomorrow.
Oh yeah, and we OBLITERATED Norff by an EMPHATIC 80 points last night!!
Touch & go for 3 qtrs. I'm sure BSA felt as I did that we were going to kick ourselves out of the game. That we wern't capitalising on opportunities. That by looking sloppy & disinterested we'd give Norff a sniff & they'd rise to post their 1st win at our expense. AND we'd look especially bad as the media went to town over the backfiring 'Boo-A-Roo' campaign.
But as usual, the Swans were playing with us. This time they left the 'show no quarter' for last. They cruelly dangled victory in front of Norff, in sight but just out of reach. Then, seemingly tired of teasing the Roos, they put the 4-points away in a safe place, & padlocked it securely.
To the Roo supporter(s) reading this I apologise for its overtly smug overtones. But we've had our share of heartache over the years while you guys have won flags. One of which was practically handed to you at our expense thanks to the ridiculous and outdated 'all Grandfinals at the MCG' rule. Then you tried to waltz in & poach our extremely hard-won Sydney faithful. And you've also got the biggest Wa(y)nker to ever pull on footy boots as a captain who everone mistakenly thought would turn it around for you last night. But instead he just ended up punching our vice-captain in (the back of) the head, perhaps just to round out his attack on our on-field leaders this week. But then, a 50 metre ensued from that which resulted in another goal, so perhaps thanks are in order there instead.
Today I'm going to bask in the rays of the sun & the reflected glory of the Swans. And I'll enjoy it while it lasts because the Dons won't fall over anywhere nearly as insipidly as the Roos did.
