Yes Eastaugh! Thats it. But you are dead wrong. Eastaugh you are one sad individual, you wouldn't now how to reply intelligently if you tried. Am I wrong, is Valentines Day yet another American idea? Also thats not to say I don't buy stuff for girlfriends on Valentines Day. I stated the obvious, whats wrong with that? What is with the majority of people from South Australia? They get so offensive and defensive over nothing.

I really love the way guys who want to avoid Valentines Day say it is an American thing. It is one day a year set aside to show the special person in your life how much they mean to you. I think we should show that every day of the year, but usually that doesn't happen. So to all those who enjoy a bit of love & romance in their lives, hope you have a very Happy Valentines Day. To me, Valentine's Day is a cop-out for those people who aren't prepared to show their love their partner for 365/6 days a year, and so get tokenistic for one day alone.

'Here, have some flowers, and some chocolate, and lets go out. See. I love yer.'

I'd rather something a little less material, really.

yes, its an American thing, and it once agains shows our mindlessness to follow blindly where the yanks tread.

Having said all that, I'm lucky. I have tended to do the flowers and gifts thing a number of times for the missus over the last year and a (nearly) half, and probably displayed feelings in more substantial ways. So doing something for the better arf today won't be pretentious at all, just another day to me.

I've just saved a bit of quid over the past while, too. So I think I'll be telling the missus we'll be ring-shopping on Saturday.
