Apologies if this has been done before, but i was just wondering if you all are happy with Moloney?

Obviously it was one of the biggest trades in the off season between the tigers, Geelong and yourselfs but i was wondering if you are happy with the trade.

I think he is having an alright season, but could be playing better, but then again ya cant judge a guy who has played less than 40 games.

Pretty Much.

IF thompson was still at the dees we'd be travelling better, basically.

but he's had an extra two years on Brent, and Brent is more of a violent wingman than an in and under midfielder whereas thommo is an absolute ball magnet, which is what we are lacking.

once Sylvia and Brock take that next step (it's imminent man) and a bit more focus goes off moloney, I reckon we'll see an absolute star

Wasn't expecting immediate results, but I have been very happy with Beamer's progress. rick James is right in saying if we had Thompson now we would be travelling better as it was no coincidence when he was injured last year we went downhill. Thompson has been around longer than Moloney though and I think Moloney is still developing a lot, and will form the foundations of an elite midfield along with McLean and Sylvia.
IMO Brock will become the in and under that we so desperately need.

I reckon he has been OK, dropped off in the last couple of months though. Sylvia and Mclean will be better players. As the dees already have a host of goal kicking midfielders and a reasonable spine, I reckon you guys can look forward to some good results in the next two to three years. It wouldn't hurt to have a couple more key position prospects. What in the way of these? and where will the draft take the Dees this year?

with Moloney yeah im quite content, with losing Thommo though i am still very angry!!!

Moloney is a good player great to see him banging the footy inside 50 with his thumping kick however like mentioned above he has to get the pill first.

Not having Thompson is killing Melbourne right now and Phil Read is about our only hope at most bounces to get the ball out.

Moloney is a good player but if i could take the trade back i would.....(obviously Thompson wanted to leave so it couldnt be helped)

Moloney is better now than Thompson was 2 years ago (at the same age).

Considering Thommo was always going to leave, we have done extremely well to get Beamer as a replacement.

i dont know y he doesnt get given the ball at half forward more often and bang in goals from outside 50 more often. we all know he can do it. i remember seeing him kick a super goal vs carlton and that pumped me up but unfortuantly he has only kicked 1 goal since then and that was round 1. our first goal for the season if my meory serves me correctly....

i actually think that he has been our best player in the last 2 games (maybe TJ in brisbane but still up der)

his aggression is good and he is starting to control it more. he is one of my favourite players and im considering getting a 22 on my guernsey thats currently vacant (funny, old one had 6 on it :()

if i had a choice of the 2 i'd take moloney in the hope that mclean and sylvia and some others along the way will turn into star inside midfielders to feed him it but that dun mean i wasnt unhappy to see tommo go. very dissapointed but we had no real choice.

but hey we have wat we have and im happy with it. beamer is now our 2nd most important midfielder behind TJ imo because his aggression and long kicking really help us.

im still hoping that thommo realises how ******** adelaide (the city) really is and wants to come back home

I was at the Wizard Cup game vs Carlton as well and that was a huge kick, I'm puzzled as well why he doesn't kick more goals because of the penetration he gets and I think he's fairly accurate when he concentrates. Would love to see him kick one or two this Saturday night.

Couldnt be happier with Beamer this year. averages 17.7 touches a game which was more than tommo last year. Plus the best bit about Beamer is his only 21 and put 2 or 3 years on him and he will average between 22 to 25, cant wait to see beamer develop more.

Meh. Start of the season I was pleased. I'm not on the bandwagon now though.

As reluctanct as Geelong were, they got rid of the right guy. While he can get the ball and his kicking his long and pretty accurate, he has more downsides. He's extremely loose, pretty slow and tries to break far too many tackles. Granted, he's young and still learning the caper, but I still reckon Geelong knew what they were doing.

Will be a good, solid player for our club, but I just think their isn't as much upside in him as I had first hoped. But then, I wouldn't mind him proving me wrong.

You have a few points, but he isn't slow. With the breaking tackles you have to take the good with the bad. I've seen him get caught, but I've also seen him throw guys a good few cm's taller than him right off.

Watching him play with the penetration he gets with his kicking, I think Daniher tells him to stay out the F50. He is leading us and nearly the comp for F50 entries and is nearly leading us for D50 rebounds. I'm not sure about his crumbing or marking and leading abilities but he can win the contested ball better than most of our midfield and I would love to see him kick a few. I think kicking goals (And he would be able to do it) would add another string to his bow and he would be even more damaging.

he aint as slow as u might think. he is just short and stocky which makes him looks slower den he really is. those lil legs pump away like mad.

overall im very pleased with this guy. hopefully some of our softer midfielders take his example and be more aggressive

Moloney(little buddha) adds hardness to a very potent midfield (Green, Bruce, Johnstone, Silvya, Mclean Godfrey, Yze, James McDonald) and has a great kick on him, personally i think you did well but thompson is killing it at adelaide so hard to judge. The cats came off the worst copping brad ottens. Never win you a granny with him in the square.

And here we go again, another Geelong supporter having a dig at the biggest player on out list and best trade we have done in years.....

I was at the Melb V Syd game on sat night, poor blokes. better luck next week

Moloney definatly has no confidence kicking for goal... i saw him do a half hearted 30m chip/shot for goal/ set to the goal square. He didnt no what he was doing unfortunatly

Yes I remember you saying that. Robbo was leading but there was an open goal and Beamer kinda tried to kick a goal and pass to Robbo. Resulted in a behind. I think Daniher should just say 'kid, if you feel you're in range and aren't going to get mown down have a ping'.
That supergoal against Carlton in the Wizard Cup was a huge kick. I know a few of you would have been there and those who weren't or didn't see it believe me this kid can nail them from 55+ on the run.
