That explains why all the other clubs jumped at the chance to grab him when on trade table. Not up to it.
No clubs rated Hird when he was drafted. No clubs rated Watson when Sheedy almost put him on the table in 2006. No clubs rated Dean Cox when he was taken in the rookie draft, same with Aaron Sandilands. Clubs make mistakes. Kav is certainly up to it, he's a smart inside midfielder that was rated top 5 in his draft class prior to injury.

No clubs rated (insert every player who has been delisted and not picked up by another club here) and he ended up just being shit.

It's a much longer list E dawg.

Agreed, but Kavanagh still has some (not much) time to prove he's not. I'd love to be wrong, but Kommer is a forward line Hank Slattery for mine. There's a lot to admire about him, but he's just no good.

That's also true, but clubs do make mistakes. I'm confident this is one of them.

I don't see any hard decisions needing to be made. Natural progression for mine.

Chapman - probably retires.
Winderlich - probably retires.
O'Brien - possibly delisted.
Pears - possibly delisted.
Giles - possibly traded/delisted pending who comes in.
Kavanagh - possibly delisted.
Fletcher - probably retires.
Kommer - possibly delisted.
Hams - possibly delisted.
Aylett - possibly delisted.

Only half of these need to be turned over and that's nothing drastic as likely to be a few retirements. Should also free up some cash to chase some free agents like Dangerfield and leuenberger.

Should be fairly easy decisions I'd think.

No offence but if he was up to it he would be there.

You're honestly comparing Kav to Hirdy, Sandilands, Cox. Wow, I do hope you're right, but I haven't seen it.
No. I never said he'd be that good, just that clubs have clearly not rated players who have turned out to be guns and clubs not biting at the trade table or at the draft isn't necessarily the be all and end all.

He's 22 years old, with his first season as a write-off due to injury. He'll be fine.

Doubt Kommer will play again, My bet is Kav will be gone at end of next year, hams will be lucky to, be on list come Christmas .

I really hope you are on the money, I like the way he moves but at this stage no where near AFL level.

Your seriously underestimating the regard in which Hams is held.
I don't care how highly regarded he is, maybe I'm being harsh and he'll last until the end of 2016. But he will never be a good enough on baller to take us deep into the finals, he's far to small in all aspects and gets thrown around likes rag doll. I he plays 100 club games we won't be having any success.

Question for Ant

Note the deficiencies mentioned in your post - Interested how these deficiencies compare to the top teams ?

The real basic one is working as a team with trust and not playing your own game. Basic concept but hard to get going as it only takes one player to let the whole thing down. If you get it right then your roll over defense will work, your forwards lead to predicable spots (predictable to team mates) and the blokes up the ground can almost kick to a spot / space and know someone will be leading there.

Physical presence from your leaders. The sides winning Grand Finals recently have leaders who simply do all the team things week in and week out. We seem to have a varying degree of what our leaders are prepared to do. For example Jobe needs to be more imposing when he does not have the ball. We all know he is pretty much fearless so use some of what he uses when he attacks the footy by putting on a big block every now and then and make a statement. Some with Goddard or Heppell. Screw the easy stat and go for a stat that shows your team mates you can take it to a new level.
Then the cycle is complete as well know they train hard, prepare well and will not back down when they are going for the ball be it marking or winning contested ball.

If you get that trust and mental mind set then you can over come some deficiencies in other areas.
We have talent , we may lack a little leg speed or be a bit the same in the middle but if they can pick up their non possession time (thinking about what is coming next rather than standing around) and work a bit more for each other than you give yourself a chance to take a big step.

Team work and trust in each other and the system has been what has set Hawthorn, Sydney, Geelong, Collingwood and now Fremantle (so far this year) apart from the sides finishing mid pack.

I watch us live every week and often again on replay in full, I think I'm allowed an opinion.

I obviously don't rate his work as highly as others, and I only say the above as even if it injury, the result is the same, he can't produce for us. He's obviously injury prone (not the current one, that's a normal incident).

If we were to make a "tough decision" on anybody id personally want it to be Myers, as he's injury prone and I don't think as important as others in the squad. It comes down to who we can most afford to lose.

You watch all that football and still claim jake Carlisle is our best foward ... Either we are more stuffed than I think or you don't pay attention to the games ?

He played 18 games in the guts last year and kicked 5 goals. Such a prolific goal kicker :drunk:
Never said he was prolific. Say whatever you want he's a critical part of the Essendon midfield moving forward with captaincy qualities that is a non negotiable. I can't wait until he comes back so I can rub your face in all his glory.
