I actually think Murphy is tougher than some give him credit for, given what he's had to put up with, including incidents/injuries onfield that have actually put him out of the game for periods of time, even from his early years.

But yeah, he is a ball player and really needs support around him and isn't the type to go around dishing it out.

Agree, but I think us Carlton supporters are done with seeing the team bumped, scragged and bullied off the ball for the last 15 years. We don't have to carry hit-men in the team, just have a nice scattering of hard, disciplined players who won't be intimidated and wont standby whilst others are. Marc Murphy has not been protected at all in his career and eventually it may well shorten it as the physical load gets too much. He's a ball player after all.

This is the one thing that has annoyed me no end. If your teammate is taken out by some dog act , you need to 'fly the flag' and let the opposition know there will be retribution and it will come at the next contest.

So many times I have seen our players just jog on by as if it they just don't care, so frustrating.
