Hardest soccer position

Being a winger (a good one) is the hardest.

Tactically I would say the wide striker role(in a 4-3-3) is very hard to teach/play if you don't have a good football brain. Being able to know when and where to be when both attacking and defending is vital in this position and getting it wrong throws the balance of a side totally out of whack.

Having lumps hacked out of you from opposition defenders and dealing with long ball crap from your own defence is another big problem strikers face.

There's also the adverse arguments - if strikers **** up the worst that happens is they don't score a goal.

If a defender ****s up the other team will probably score a goal.

Not really, that's why theres 4 or 5 of them. It's almost a given their going to be shit and make mistakes so just shove a whole lot of them in and around the same area and 1 of the 5 might get abit of luck* and be able to stop that one talented player.

*luck is usually swing your leg as fast it can go at the back of the blokes leg

:D

I'm not disagreeing with you - but there's a lot more to defending than that.

It's not all put on a plate for you by the midfielders either ;)

FWIW my position is defensive midfield.

I'd say the DCM sweeper box-to-box zonal marker is the hardest position/role. In fact, only one player in the world plays this position.

Fancy a hangman game?

No wonder he's the best at that position....it sounds so made up!

I find it hardest to play as a sweeper. You have to time your dropping off and pushing up very well. If you don't drop off quickly enough then your quite exposed at the back and if you don't push up in time you will get caught out trying to play the offside trap.

Wingbacks are only hard if when you push up, nobody is covering you.
Wingers probably don't get as much of the ball and alot of their game can be running up and down. They need to make sure they track back too.

Striker is tough when playing alone up front and if you have your back to goal. If you can time your runs, not stay so static and touch the ball back to the midfield and then run on then its an easy position to play.

Midfield depends what role your playing. Attacking Mids have more creative freedom and are thus allowed to be "slack" in their defensive game which is why you make sure only one midfielder pushes up while the other sits back to help clean up on the counter.

I play pretty much everywhere and the hardest role i've played is the sweeper role. I just can't do it haha. I usually play CB, RB, LB or CM.
