Yet when you talk about clubs and firing coaches....who's name comes up? Richmond, Essendon, Carlton

the truth doesn't match the perception but its the perception that ultimately costs us

Stay mired in mediocrity, there is no hope for you

I agree perception does a lot in footy, it's why we missed out on Treloar. But please name the last coach to give up a shot at a Head Coaching spot to stay an assistant.

It's simple there are only 18 positions in the country, guys with the ambition to coach will not throw away the chance for a perception.

Besides the reality is we are an attractive proposition for a coach. Financially secure, good list and leading us to promised land will set up a coaches legacy for ever.

C'mon Komrade we shook that tag years ago, in the 90's I think we had about 5 or 6 coach changes.
We've had 2 this century we give spud 4 yrs, plough 5 yrs now dimmas in his 7th year. There's no way
Sydney Hawthorn Geelong West Coast or any side worth it's weight in salt would keep Dimma after
3 dismal finals appearances, 3 sluggish starts in a row, and now he throws in the towel in the Nab,
loses to a hapless pies on national tv, gives rubbish postgame pressers, says shite like half step back.
Then last night no game plan throwing players around like Chaplin forward then ruck, riewoldt back
hunt for miles. Man if you can't see that Dimma's lost the plot then you must not have seen the Tigers
play the last 4 weeks, we are lucky we even beat the blues. And as for replacement coaches I have
suggested a few worth looking at. I don't want to see a Malthouse/Blues scenario. It's up to the board
to start getting ahead of the situation and facing reality do thier interviews and get someone in fast.
Dimmas not gonna die, he'll get a nice payout, and be able to relax on the weekends and enjoy the footy
on TV.:)

who else there then? go on! you all want to sack the bloke, who the **** do we replace him with?
Well you asked so don't shoot the messenger but from the outer the following in no particular order would be near the top of my shopping list

Scott Camporeale
Mathew Knights
Blake Caracella
Nigel Lapin

Something we lack and have done for years is someone to help the coach in match day. Wouldn't be against Dean Laidley being given a match day assistant role.

Open the cheque book and give the new coach the money needed to get the best assistants they can find including numerous development coaches. It's development more than any other that is a gaping hole at our club.

Obviously these guys above would all be contracted and hard to remove during the season but if our coach was to moved during the season then funnier things have happened.

good post :thumbsu: actually answered my question.

Camporeale would be a good steal and would be top of my list to get, would really improve us majorly
I'd say yes to Knights and Lapin as assistants, would help alot
Caracella, i haven't kept upto date with him since he retired from playing so ill abstain on commenting on him

Re read the thread they have already been mentioned numerous times take your blinkers off

its not just hardwick that needs to go or be looked at the recruiting department needs an overhaul. as do our assistant coaches we haven't been the same since leppa left. our fitness is shit house to many players overweight or unable to run out games

i think the list has the talent to go deeper into september, but i think the whole coaching and recruiting panel needs to change. hardwick and co have had long enough to build the team he wants for his gameplan, and there is plenty of talent in there. the whole lot are jsut not good enough at getting the best out of them.

Hardwick's biggest failure is that he is a good development coach and a rubbish head coach, evidenced by the fact that he is both the worst match day coach in the AFL as well as part of the worst selection panel in the AFL.

This is why he did well in his first couple of years when it was about developing a team and so poorly in his last couple of years when winning a final has proven well and truly beyond him.

Is it gameplan or skills?

I unfortunately think it's both at the moment

The skills have deteriorated due to the game plan implementation, do not confuse this , the players can play they have shown that the last three years, the game plan is to implement stoppages and handball your way through, the competition have worked it out , this is a coaching led demise.

Just watched the 6o'clock news don't understand Rance when he says"we got too many coachable players" like wtf?

I think what he is trying to say is we are following instructions, if he said it in English there would be a revolt

This whole thing is getting bizzare, brooke posting public statements defending cotch, Rances bizzare expanation, people defending Dimma like he's gonna die if he get sacked.
Strange times.
It's a spinout, nobody wants to get rid of Cotchy I wish we had some mongrels like Jake King, Daniel Jackson on our list .

Coaches come and coaches go, very rarely do they get long service leave sheedy and Ferguson are the exception rather than the rule, even our own Tom Hafey was sacked a number of times and he was one of the greats, so don't lose any sleep of Dimma going he has his mortgage covered

Bit like Jack last year said it how it was and then they gag him and treat him like hanibal. It's funny Dimma's pressers over the last four weeks how he's speaking the truth now saying our game plans broken last night and we got flogged in every stat. Whereas he's just spun BS leading up to it. This whole 'crisis' could have been avoided with a little more honest PR from Dimma.

Jack was two seasons ago maric was last year, astbury this year, expect more spin from Hardwick

We ain't fit enough for the reduced rotations, our first instinct is backwards, you can coach that into players with training drills, it stands out like dogs balls, the posters on here will know what I'm talking about , repetition repetition in training will do that , you can coach the natural instincts that are there, it's harder to do in elite athletes but it can be done and it has been done.

Anyone who has coached at a high level regardless of the ball sport will understand this. Pm me if you want I'm over this shit
