Last July on channel 7 match day Brandon Ellis talked about how good we would be when we got Motlop and Treloar. Strong rumours we had both.

We didn't

So we reloaded and got Townsend and Moore with Yarran

We got conca through his first pre season and he looked great off the hbf

Conca Lids Maric Grimes Yarran all injured

Townsend and Moore not the answer

Any wonder we look like crap and have no confidence

Do we know whether Phil's opinion was wholistic covering all aspects of footy regarding Lade?

My understanding is that Phil Walsh wanted to get Lade to Adelaide as ruck coach

So I think he rated him for that but I don't recall him saying anything more than that eg whether he would be a good senior coach

Didn't Collingwood sort of think the same thing about Buckley...not so much take them a step further but keep them in reliably good stead so the handover was expected to be minimum risk?

Players lack confidence. when that happens you more than often lose. I'm not so upset about losing to good teams. I'm upset about losing to average teams. That's where I am more concerned about how well hardwick is coaching and next week will tell me more than this week.

Unless you've spoken to the players about who they would rather play for you can't prove this and the argument becomes circular.

You could equally argue players chose Collingwood due to eddies spin or bigger dollars or jobs after retirement or playing in Anzac day or some other reason.

Or yeah it could be that hardwick can't string two words together.
