So if this doesn’t get done today or tomorrow will Eagles fans be nervous? We’ve had countless in the know posters claiming this would be signed week after week. I do think he’s signed, sealed and delivered. But what’s the hold up?
Gotta get the merch and video package done.

By all accounts he has a WA girlfriend now he has split from Jas?
That helps keep home sickness at bay.
Get a hot young Perth girl, and 1.8 million a year, plus better weather and beaches, no outrageous toll roads, less crime, a great new stadium and big supporter base, and one of the wealthiest sporting clubs in the country.

It worked for Chris Judd (although, to be fair Chris Judd did sign a second contract and won a flag — and the Eagles clearly won out of that trade)

Also need to keep in mind that it may (and I really don't know if it would have been) been different if we weren't starting to implode at the time.

To be fair, Judd was getting crazy money to go back to Carlton. There was the pay from The Blues, but the Visy money was worth more. Plus, his GF was a model and the bright lights of Melbourne would have meant more for her career.
I dont know alot about Reids new squeeze, but the majority of WAGS would rather be at home with their family close by.
She might be more of a trad girl

I wouldn’t complain. Maybe it cost you a shot at 2008 (I doubt it) but that collateral allowed you to rebound and win a flag a decade later. As for Judd he spent a decade or so at a spud Carlton team…

That was just good business by West Coast.

Was interesting hearing Eliza Reilly(Code Sports) and Will Schofield talk about this the other day.

Eliza said she saw Reid down at Cottesloe having coffee with a bunch of teammates. Schofield said that during the week, the 'obsession' over footy just isn't there with the players like there is in Melbourne. You're generally left alone when out in public, despite the perception that WA's a 'fishbowl', which is due to the media attention and not from the general public.

It set them up for sure. They did well from it, but it helped that Judd nominated a team at the bottom of the ladder that had a good hand of picks and young talent to offer up for him.

Thats something that's always talked about.
They say that Adelaide and Perth are fish bowls, and the two team towns means so much more eyes are on them than in Victoria.
That was one of the reasons David King tried to use against Rankine coming back home.

I dont think the people in Melbourne are more rabid football supporters than Adelaide or Perth are, but its where all the media and AFL administration is.

I really dont know which place is more in your face for players to be in. I saw Tex in the Adelaide Central markets, and no one was going up to him for autographs or to say hello. He was just doing his thing and everyone else was doing theirs.
The only player that really couldn't leave his house without getting mobbed was Modra in his heyday. That guy was constantly getting pulled up by people near him.
