I could understand it if Essendon or Richmond fans were getting upset, cos they actually have the draft capital to perhaps land a contracted Harley, while Hawthorn have nothing, but it's their supporters losing their minds.

I am all for a punt but this is simply not worth the draft capital it would take to land him, and certainly not the salary also.

Understand totally for your current position.

If we lost a player like Weddle because we have overpaid a recruit i would be raging.

In the hawks case and going by reports you're clubs more likely to lose players for underpaying them.

Better off going to the draft, even though we will still likely blow the picks.

Nah, it's hard to blow having multiple top ten picks. 2020 doesn't count, scouting was ****ed then.

To be honest, I am glad Harley Reid is staying.

A 2 year extension until 2028 isn't a bad outcome.

I wish it was a 5 year extension until 2031. That means 8 years and a free agent deal.

Worst case scenario is if he does 8 years, at least West coast eagles get some sort of compo pick back.

Or eagles can demand a team like Geelong to offer a package of picks and players
