Oh no how can we go on.Literally going to lose James Worpel cos you overpaid Battle
So are the Eagles gonna trade in Xavier Duursma from the Dons and draft Willem Duursma at #1 now? Would that have been part of the pitch? Maybe even Yasmin Duursma could be traded to the Eagles AFLW team next year.
Harley and the Duursmas.

Maybe he'll become a top 100 AFL player during this extension.
He ain't now and he's getting top 15 money.
Crazy.
What is he getting paid now?
And in 2026?
Not $2m. Stillon initial rookie wages plus marketing in year 3. Andthe kid sells memberships and T shirts. Lots of them.
Can't recall a player getting so much attention and money for doing so little.
Is that code for cocaine and meth? He's 19, in WA and as described by Will Schofield Perth is the land of milk and honey to any 18yr old leaving home
Is that code for cocaine and meth?
That’s all at JUH’s houseIs that code for cocaine and meth?
t***ies and VIs that code for cocaine and meth?
Pretty sure both those things are available in every capital city.
So no.
Weather, beaches, lifestyle, the girls, sports to watch etc.
I could understand it if Essendon or Richmond fans were getting upset, cos they actually have the draft capital to perhaps land a contracted Harley, while Hawthorn have nothing, but it's their supporters losing their minds.
Surely they didn't seriously think they were a chance? Or are they that delusional?
Wild.
In the hawks case and going by reports you're clubs more likely to lose players for underpaying them.Understand totally for your current position.
If we lost a player like Weddle because we have overpaid a recruit i would be raging.
Cant speak for Richmond fans but I don't think many if any at all are too upset about this.
Yeah that was my point, it's the supporters of the club who had the least to satisfy the Eagles in a trade, and therefore the least likely to secure him, who were getting the most upset. It was bizarre.
Maybe they took too much stock in their 'in the knows' on their team board, aka random nobodies on the internet and the last people you should take at face value
At least it would have made some sense if Essendon or Richmond fans did get upset, because they had the draft capital if they wanted to try and strike a deal, but I didn't see that. Which is all good.
End of the day the best outcome for all clubs took place. Essendon and Richmond can hit the draft hard, and the Eagles secure an important piece of their own rebuild![]()
Nah, it's hard to blow having multiple top ten picks. 2020 doesn't count, scouting was ****ed then.i mean i agree i guess
Essendon are in no place to put that much capital and salary into an unproven player.
Better off going to the draft, even though we will still likely blow the picks.
CatToTheFutureAnother feather in the cap of the Geelong Board 'ITK's who have gotten every call wrong for the last decade!
Next year no doubt Walsh, Butters, Ben King and Zac Bailey will all be sign sealed and delivered to the Cattery only to hear they pulled out at the death when each player re signed for another 5 years.
Always entertaining reading at least.
I'd say "he's good, we couldn't afford him" is a fairly popular and accurate take. We can't be paying any player double what we pay Max Holmes. We're at the "hes no good, didn't want him anyway" stage of coping i see
Hey you're supposed to tell walshy we're chasing every player! Don't drop character
To be honest, I am glad Harley Reid is staying. We're at the "hes no good, didn't want him anyway" stage of coping i see
