Exactly. Such a high center of gravity for someone his weight being the reason he struggles so much in body on body contests. He is very easy to push and huge lack of upper body strength stops him from breaking tackles and laying good ones.
Harley has low centre of gravity with great core strength enabling him to sidestep, break tackles and lay good ones. Point made

Impotant is actually spelt impotent... Though I can't work out why you think it is great to have him back if this is how you regard him!

On a serious note, Harley is a dinosaur and was exposed thus by Riewoldt today. Your post indicates that you did not listen to or watch the game today.

I'll ignore your 'witty' comment about my spelling mistake.

My post made no mention of the quality of the game he had just played but my personal regard of him as a leader and player for our team and the importance of him within the team structure. If you're going to pass comment on me, please stick to the facts.

BTW, i went to the game AND listened to it on the radio AND watched it on those little tv's that some of the seats have!!

:p

Again totally irrelevant to this argument because the guy isn't match fit.

The only way to get him properly match fit would be to play him in 1's. The played him in the 1's for a week to get some game time into him and then didn't play him the next week cause there wasn't a match up.
Every club would be keen to get their captain into the senior side and if he's not injured then I don't see why Tommy shouldn't be...

Always has been slight - a boy's frame. Send him to KFC or Maccas for a feed.

Are you saying Harley has been dropped for this weeks game?

When you have the list / lack on injuries Geelong do and your a good flag chance, you shouldn't be bringing players into the 1s to get form. Stupidity. Geelong need to make the final 4 to be a realistic chance, captain or not Harley is not in our best 22 and it may cost us.

If i was Captain Jack Sparrow you would be walking the plank... "There is mutany aboard.."

Your comments on modern day footy in terms of the backline are accurate but the general cosensus is give him a week or two and you will see he is still up to it.

Martyk, you obviously want Harley out (not in best22) and have previously said that Enright and Mackie should be dropped in favour of Hunt because of their poor disposal,so I ask you.Who should be the backline? I would be interested to see your team.

D.Johnson Scarlett Rooke
Wojac Egan J.Hunt

Two very suspect players in there (not talking about Monica)

Why not discuss it then, and give us all your opinion? Instead of posting this type of rubbish, which is a total waste of time reading. You rarely post anything of substance so I'm not all that suprised, just spare us all this type of post unless it leads somewhere..

D.Johnson Scarlett Rooke
Wojac Egan J.Hunt

You really do like DJ and Hunt don't you. This is where we differ.Mine would be:
B. Enright Scarlett Milburn
HB. Mackie Egan Wojcinski.

Rooke to valuable in the heat of the packs to be left in the pocket. Milburn the best Quarterback in the league. Cheers!

Pretty much mine. Enright is showing himself to be better when not in the midfield (I think he reads the play well and drops back nicely into holes). My only concern is with his high Frees Against tally. This would hurt if he played in back pocket all the time.

Also depends on forward line of opposition. If they are top heavy (e.g. Saints), then bring in Harley and drop Enright. If they are small (e.g. Hawthorn, Bulldogs), then bring in Hunt (In some ways I prefer DJ's work ethic, but Hunt has more polish)

After round 10 the 4 leading players for Frees Against: 1. B.Hall
2.B.Franklin
3. C. Enright
4. L.Hodge.
Doubt that anyone would be calling for the heads of the other three.

So Harley, Enright, Mackie all out.

J.Hunt, D.Johnson and who's the third in?

Two points...
1. i'm not calling for his head. All I said was that it can be more damaging obviously having free kicks in the backline, which is why I wasn't too sure on having him back pocket (HBF means a little bit more leway to get it wrong). Which leads on to my second point...
2. The other three basically play in their forward lines or middle, which is why no-one calls for their heads because the frees against are less damaging (in a direct sense).

1.I was not referring to you but to other posters who have called for him too be dropped.I just happened to come across that particular reference.

2. Hodge has played as sweeper across the backline for most of the season.
Most of Enright's free against have been professional holding up the play but I do get your point.

Why not discuss it then, and give us all your opinion?

Full Backling:
David Johnson - Honest player good stopper but provides very little rebound. Doesn't fit our style
Rooke- Why as backpocket? Been great in the middle and kicking goals on the HF line.
Half Back line:
Hunt- Very good on the rebound but conceeds goals, teams tend to play through his player.

Other selection are the ones pretty much unanimously provided you still have Milburn playing in the backline somewhere.

I agree that Enright should probably be the one dropped as his kicking has been pretty poor and he gives away a lot of frees (disagree with the comment that they are professional frees too). I prefer Tenace as although Enright might be slightly better (debatable), Tenace can play the same role at a similar level and is 21 with more scope for improvement.

The 22 that I would like to see playing:

FB: Tenace Scarlett Milburn
HB: Wojcinski Egan Mackie
C: Chapman Bartel Ablett
R: Ottens, Corey, Ling
HF: Rooke N.Ablett S.Johnson
FF: Varcoe Mooney Stokes
Bench: Blake, Hunt, Kelly Selwood

Rooke: HF with defensive assignment on Gilbee, Mcloud, Kenelly trpe players
Hunt: To come on as an impact style attacking midfeilder with the veiw of getting lots of inside 50's. Or else freeing Milburn to play loose.
Ablett, Chapman, Rooke, Kelly, Selwood & Tenace all in midfeild rotations.

2. Hodge has very damaging disposal by foot and I would argue that very few of Enrights frees are professional frees.

Enright = Tenace but 4-5 years older

Considering any attempts at wasting time are quickly penalised with a 50, and since the inclusion of the advantage rule, is there a place for professional frees in today's footy? You may have bought a few seconds grace, but at the expense of your opponent having a clean kick. Moreover it would take exceptional awareness at this level of the sport to notice your full-back's 10 metres off their full-forward, and then alter your attack on the ball-player accordingly to concede a free without going too far.

I think it's better to have your players in one mind-set: harass the kick, don't gamble on the umpire. Soccer or hockey, no probs, but in AFL only concede a free if a) it's an attempt to injure early in the match (a dog act carrying a likely suspension), or b) your opponent is a known choker on set-shots (is that reputation realistic?)
