Two points.
1.I was not referring to you but to other posters who have called for him too be dropped.I just happened to come across that particular reference.

2. Hodge has played as sweeper across the backline for most of the season.
Most of Enright's free against have been professional holding up the play but I do get your point.

Professional free kicks, are you kidding?? My gosh...some of the rubbish on here. The reason Enright gives away a lot of free kicks is because he is consistantly second to the ball, simple. The other players, Hodge / Hall etc are naturally aggressive players being the reason they give away lots, Enright is far, FAR from aggressive. Don't ever compare Hodge to Enright in general play either, Hodge uses the ball exceptionally well(top handfull in league) and Enright chops the hell out of it.

What have you learned? Enright is not hard at the ball, or aggressive, has bad disposal / has trouble hitting targets, and gives away far too many free kicks because when your consistantly second to the ball, you natuarally give them away.

... or when you're first to the ball and you get caught with it.

Full Backling:
David Johnson - Honest player good stopper but provides very little rebound. Doesn't fit our style
Rooke- Why as backpocket? Been great in the middle and kicking goals on the HF line.
Half Back line:
Hunt- Very good on the rebound but conceeds goals, teams tend to play through his player.

Other selection are the ones pretty much unanimously provided you still have Milburn playing in the backline somewhere.

I agree that Enright should probably be the one dropped as his kicking has been pretty poor and he gives away a lot of frees (disagree with the comment that they are professional frees too). I prefer Tenace as although Enright might be slightly better (debatable), Tenace can play the same role at a similar level and is 21 with more scope for improvement.

The 22 that I would like to see playing:

FB: Tenace Scarlett Milburn
HB: Wojcinski Egan Mackie
C: Chapman Bartel Ablett
R: Ottens, Corey, Ling
HF: Rooke N.Ablett S.Johnson
FF: Varcoe Mooney Stokes
Bench: Blake, Hunt, Kelly Selwood

Rooke: HF with defensive assignment on Gilbee, Mcloud, Kenelly trpe players
Hunt: To come on as an impact style attacking midfeilder with the veiw of getting lots of inside 50's. Or else freeing Milburn to play loose.
Ablett, Chapman, Rooke, Kelly, Selwood & Tenace all in midfeild rotations.

don't think i could agree more. exactly the way i see it

Was one of our best defenders if not the best. Started on Riccuto and owned him. Not sure who he played on later in the game.

He had a great first half on Riccuito but than they moved McGregor onto him and he really struggled. McGregor kicked 3 and was influentical in Adelaide staying in the game.

yeah played very well. Started with a nice grab then a VERY poor kick. After that though settled down and played well. the old Harley vices are back, took a lot of good marks and also made a few good spoils.

Major improvement compare to last week. Still not quite the Harley of old but he is getting there. Looked at lot more quicker and sharper and read the play much better. Hopefully he keeps improving and gets back to 04 form.

Haven't seen the game yet, and only got to listen to the last quarter.
How did Harley go today? Any improvement on last week?
One of our best. K-Rock talking about him now - IMO Adelaide targetted him as the weak link and he smacked them around.

Something leads me to believe that martyk might be allergic to that particular pie on this occaison... :p

No doubt all his apposers will say "He played one good half..." or something like that.

Good on him I say.

Just like you all jumped on me for not proclaiming Nath as a 'superstar' when he performed well early in the season, the guy has done nothing for weeks. Do I revisit that thread? No. This chapmanmagic guy changes his pic in accordance to who is hot at the minute... So transparent...

Harley was good but gave away 2 goals in a very close scoring game where goals were a premium. While he was good, he played on a side with probably the worst forward line in the league atm in a very low scoring / low 50 entry game. He will still get ripped to shreds by quality forwards like he has done for 2 years. Why would I change my perspective? Or eat humble pie for one good game(for his standard)?

Re-visit this at the end of the season along with the Nath thread.

Definately looked good as a defender and took some contested grabs. Made a few critical mistakes but that is forgivable given he is still a bit rusty.

Was just having a dig at you marty. :p
He's certainly not "back", so to speak, but even you would admit it is encouraging to see our Captain improve on his performance from last week...

Actually gave Harley 1 point this week , for putting in 100% on last weeks game. Still made a few blunders but his possition should be safe and did some really good things today. I do think that the 2's is where you should be hitting your staps though. weather your our captain , Nathan Ablett or anyone in the side , once they relise (like Steven Johnson did) that there possitions are not a certainty they will be a much better player for it.

For sure... very encouraging. I would still dispute whether he is worthy of his position in the team though. Hope he continues to improve in coming weeks..

Encouraging build up from last weeks performance.

His hands were vintage Harley early on, and his decision making and disposal improved as the game continued. Still plenty to work on, but encouraging nonetheless.

watched the game again and I disagree with people saying he was quiet in the second half. Despite McGregor kicking a goal on him he was very good in the contests. Took marks in the last line, fisted the ball out of bounds a few times, and moved the ball well. Welcome back Harls, now if only Chappy could get his form up another notch
