One thing I noticed early in the game was his ability to read the play was significantly better than last week. To be expected I suppose.

Chapman still has some improvement to go as well, only looked to be at about 80% of his best.

You're not mistaken. The first 2 were from free kicks, one from when Blake had a brain fade and decided to give him a shoulder massage in the goalsquare.

and the shot at goal in the last minute that mcgregor missed.

if this was josh hunt the guy would be drawn and quartered, regardless of whether they were free kicks.

and i am not saying harley should be dropped, just making a point.

Hunt gets drawn and quartered because he makes continual mistakes. Consistently.

No good point, and I was critical of Harley. But I thought in general last week was the best he'd played in a long time. Looked a lot more assured than he did the week before. Still rather Egan gets the second big forward instead of Harley, but overall I thought very promising.

I agree 110%

Big Egor has said himself he is still learning, improving etc, and i think he needs a 'job' everyweek. He has been very good this year as the second tall. He looked like a lost sheep last week without that role.

Harley is smart enough to zone off the third best forward and impact on contests and rebound.

Everyone makes mistakes.... I even recall you making mistakes during your career Foreskin, like the time you thought "It" was female even though all of the lads were suggesting otherwise.

what about the time when you thought spencer would not get to 500 games and i had to convince you otherwise?

Im happy so many people who where so quick to pay out our captain after one bad game, first one back in eight weeks mind you, have choked on there words. He was great on the weekend and i one of few faithful, knew the big fella would come good, is smiling and really looking forward to watching him this week.

Agree totally,if not for Harley in the first Qtr we would have been looking at a 4-5 goal deficit.

i would not descibe his game as great...more serviceable.

turned it over a few times with awful disposal that resulted in goals. he has a way to go yet.

Despite this statement being well and truely far fetched, Harley did give away 3 goals during the game. He took 3 important contested marks too. I would also call his game servicable, especially considering we were playing the most defensive and one of the lowest scoring/worst forward lines in the leage.

One servicable game means nothing after a series of bad games including last year. I like how you all have faith in the guy but get off your high horses already... he has proven nothing yet.

Martyk, would you not agree it was a vast improvement on the week before. He looked more confident, sharper and strong at the contest.
This year he has missed games due to his finger not the back-knee problems he suffered the previous 2 years. I for one am confident that he will get better as the year goes on.If he does our already awesome backline will be even stronger.

I agree that he improved, but he still made several mistakes too. I think if he can remain playing without injury(8+ games) he will improve considerably. This really makes me wonder why he is in the side though, which I don't believe he should. No captain status, no game is my take.

Harley was excellent on the weekend. Ok there were 2 times that i remember where he played on stupidly and he kicked it to the oppisition but other then that he was extremely good, and on the way back to his past form. One of the best on ground.

Good work Harley.

Ken McGregor took at least 3 contested marks on Harley. Harley also gave away a terrible free kick 30m out from goal / his disposal wasn't that great. It certantly wasn't one way traffic. I've heard of having faith but do you all really watch these games this one eyed?

Yes McGregor did some good things for Adelaide, and Harley's game was not flawless. But I'd argue one of his goals was directly attributable to Mark Blake and Harley could do nothing about it. I also seem to recall Ricciuto was in the forward line early (you know, that allegedly "great" player) and Harley murdered him. Outmarked him and outran him every time. Surely that's worthy of some kudos.

All most of us are saying is that Harley's game was a big improvement and encouraging for the rest of the season. As a 3rd defender, not a CHB.

Do you acknowledge that?

That's right. In the article about Harley on the AFL website a couple of days ago, Tom was saying that he believed his role was now changing, away from the key position back 2, and more to a support role for Scarlett and Egan.
If this is the case, and we look at the Adelaide game, then how could you say that he is not worthy of being in the 22 or close to it.
If he is not a KP backman, then he plays on the third best forward, which in the Adelaide game was Riccuito. Why then is he expected to compete against the guys you think he should be able to, e.g. Riewoldt?
If Harley's role has changed, we could equally bag out Hunt if he were put on Riewoldt and failed to outpoint him.
Perhaps you need to re-evaluate where you think Harley is supposed to play, and maybe you would see him in a different light?
