Bullshit.

400 out, Luke's only worry was where Feelgood was. You could see him looking around for him. Ehy else would he be looking around? Even at the 150 or so, he was looking for Feelgood.

Luke new after the start FJ had no hope, so used him up to soften up the leader.

Wouldnt have mattered, as i said earlier! when horses are running close to 1.50 for the mile YOU CANNOT WIN FROM BEHIND, Mighty Quinn was behind the leader, got off the pegs at the top of the straight but couldnt run down smokin up. Even though there is good pace on in the race, the quality horse makes it hard to run them down.

I'm not going to be able to change your mind so won't bother.

Very valid point; although IMTQ probably would have still run him down if he wasn't used so hard out of the gate.

In the top grade it looks more and more like ITMQ appreciates the shorter trips after tonights Cranbourne Cup. Just can't stay; 3rd in the Miracle Mile despite being bustled out; probably would have won if eased out given how close Karloo Mick got and then tonight Mr Feelgood just too bloody tough.

Would you be willing to actually admit you are wrong when he brains them in next weeks Vic Cup?

For gods sake GeeUUess, you cant try to save face on tonights run lol

ITMQ was used up early and Mr Feelgood is probably just the better horse.

If ITMQ eased out in the Miracle Mile he would have been beaten out of site and never got a look in

ITMQ has been absolutely slaughtered it's last two runs, its the only trotter I ever back due to it's closing sprint, and it's been driven like a typical front runner and had zero brilliance.

PS does someone round here own Will Trapper or like it? I put some coin on it tonight as I remember getting word a few years ago...funny stuff

Why would I be wrong. I still think he is in the top 2 in the land at any distance.

I don't mean pulled back. Eased out he still would have got an easy death and maybe something would have gave him cover but that doesn't really matter at Menangle. I am not blaming Hall Jnr as this is only in hindsight and he is a very good driver.

Firstly he is a pacer. Secondly last week he was driven to use his finishing sprint but Amy Tubbs put in a brilliant drive and stacked them up; with the only horse who may have applied some pace into the race stuck on her back.

You would be wrong because you have stated ITMQ cannot stay.

How can you not stay, but be in the top 2 at any distance?

Are you the king of contradiction?

All I've said is better suited at the mile in the top league the way the races are run. I didn't say he was crap in other distances. Last years Cranbourne Cup, the ID and starting favourite in the Hunter Cup should put paid to that. He has won WA Grand Circuit race from the death outside Washakie. He ran Divisive (from memory it was Divisive) very close in a 2900m race at Gloucester Park when ITMQ wasn't a star and Divisive was.
But the way the races are run with no breather in the Grand Circuit compared to getting a breather back home in the WA FFAs he is better suited to the mile.
Never did I say he was bad at other distances. It's like Might and Power might have been at his best at 2000-2400m (just an example not factual so don't shoot me down) but he was still damn brilliant at 3200m.

Im Themightyquinn has raced 6 times over a distance of less than 2000m for 1 win

and out of those 6 races he started odds on favorite in 5 of them so its not as if he was out of form going into those races

So all that proves is I got a bit carried away proving my point. Go back to when the debate started and I can guarantee you I would have used words very similar to mile suits him better.
Yes, you were wrong then, and you are wrong now.

Like I said, will you finally admit you have no idea when ITMQ wins the Cup easily on Saturday night?

What does lower grade racing in the past have to do with top grade racing right now? Nothing at all.
I was on ITMQ in last years Hunter Cup, on him in the Inter and I am already on him for next years Inter. Not sure how him winning the Vic Cup next week will prove me wrong.

A nice little article.

But to be honest I'm getting over the McCarthy's. Can't hold their driving ability against them but I'm more than happy to question their "training techniques". The amount of improvement that horses show when they go to Luke's is borderline ridiculous.

Garnet River went from struggling to win a metro race to shooting through the metro grades and running third in a group 2.

Mach Wiper was getting beaten at Wagga.. now just won a group 3 and second in a group 1.

Franco Jamar always had ability but the way he is winning is just freakish.

Exactly why is the Victoria Cup no longer over a longer distance?
Been over 2240 since the move to Melton. I said exactly the same back then; it does seem strange over the shorter trip.
One thing is Meltons two grand circuit race would be too similar to each other if it was over 2760m that would make it pretty close to the 2 mile distance; which you could get away with at the Valley because it was still only 2500. Also the Ballarat Cup is 2710m so it kinda makes sense for the Victorian Cup to be a shorter distance which makes it unique in Victoria and actually pretty unique on the grand circuit.
That was enough to make me sit on the fence but I remember after the first running something won me over and made me think 2240 is the go. Not sure what it was now if I can remember I will come back and post.

Hunter Cup.....what a hot field.

Smoken up draws 1 AGAIN! How does this happen over and over again?

Feelgood was huge last weekend, see him at huge value odds (currently $8.50 on TAB fixed)

IMQ should position ideally but i dont think we will see the best out of him with SU leading, he can come off the speed and sprint but not when the qtrs are run on LJ's terms. If smoken up didnt draw 1 i would be all over IMQ.

Try the Victoria Cup.... But yeah, great field assembled. Unfortunately the random barrier draw will turn it into a one horse affair though. Smoken Up is just too good ATM. Washakie should get a nice run through for 2nd. And ITMQ for 3rd. Raglan for the pick 4s.

I think I am above this forum, or at least the vast majority of posters here. We've got people calling ITMQ a trotter, people not noticing the change in distance at Melton until now and people calling a 2240m mobile start race the Hunter Cup.

I will not leave this forum because using it will help with my line of work. There are a few other forums I frequent, including two I don't even post on because the forum members actually know their shit. Racehorsetalk and Harnesslink being those forums.

It will be a great nights racing on Saturday, Restrepo hopefully can continue and get through to the big races like the Vic Derby this season unlike last when he injured himself while By My Side is back and while he never looked superstar material he certaintly would have been a grand circuit horse and who knows what could have happened once there. The draw in the trotters also throws it wide open imo, so many top trotters going around that can win now Skyvalleys long gone, Let Me Thru is off the scene and age has caught up with Sundons Gift.

We've had people be surprised in the past when Washakie has flashed home late after hugging the pegs so like you I will get in early and say I'd rather be backing him than ITMQ or Mr Feelgood.

LOL, the change in distance has been mentioned in previous Victoria Cup threads.

When you sprout shit like you're above most people in this forum it is quite hard to take you seriously as a poster.

We use forums to discuss and debate a wide range of topics. Just because you think people are less knowledgeable than you doesn't mean their opinions are not valid.

It's people like you that stop people wanting to get involved in the harness racing industry and why it is slowly dying.

Why's it funny that other people mentioned the change in distance in the past :s

I'd say listen and learn like I listen to people who are more learned than me. Knowing the punters needs is important to me in my line of work hence I like creating discussion and have even said a couple of downright wrong things to see if it will be picked up on. I will continue to do this. Kthxbai

I don't know if this was part of my post that got deleted but additionally to the Vic Cup highlights must be Restrepo who can hopefully race through to the Vic Derby if he is going like he was last season before injury and the return of By My Side will be good to see hopefully both get around well especially By My Side who getting thru the race is probably more important than winning or losing.
