So, who is the better player???

Both hae had breakout years and been pillars in their respective teams defences...

This is especially relevant with the upcoming AA selection...

IMO, Although Gilbert wins more of the ball, Harry is the better defender.

sammy Gilbert is like 22-23 years old probably all Australian this year at very leasta nomination. 26 is the apparent peak of the career age he is a gun now 3-4 years time he will be a star defender not biast being a saints supporter because I like harry o but gilberts a star in the making.

Did you know that Sam Gilbert is 3 months older than Harry O'Brien?

O'Brien is 22 and could be AA this year. I personally think Harry is extremely underrated, and is one of our best players. Both have had great years [though I've seen far more of Harry], but I think Harry is the better player. Basically never gets beaten one-on-one, can play tall or small [from someone as big as Lucas, to someone as small as Rioli], gives brilliant drive and has very good disposal. Has also kicked a few great goals this year!

I don't know the statistics, but I would think that Gilbert gets more of the ball, but I think Harry is the better defender. He would be close to our most important player, definitely top 5.

hard to pick...i'd go for o'brien because he hardly loses a 1v1. gilbert is a lot more sure with ball in hand and is a very cool customer in the backline.

but in terms of defending, harry.

Gilbert, like big Zac is being made to look better than he is because of St.Kilda's dominance. Its no coincidence that both have been dismal before this season.

def harry o, he's more flexible and whilst i rate gilbert as a good player, i still doubt his ability to play one on one

Agreed Daniel
St Kilda is a good defensive team as a whole and chokes opponents on their way in meaning their defenders don't have to play one out too often. This is why Hudghton isn't in the team even though he's their best defender BY A MILE.
Harry's been good for 3 years now where Gilbert's been poo until this year, he is younger than gilbert and as others have said is brilliant one-on-one. Easily in Collingwood's best 5-7 this year along with Swan, Didak, Davis, Presti and Shaw/Maxwell for the second half of the year.

never really heard of either of these players so both can't be much of a stand out. but i will take a stab in the dark and say Gilbert

Harry who?

GIlbert isn't overrated as both players are in fact underrated so I agree with you there but Harry is definitely the better player and the Saints coaching staff would take a Gilbert/Harry'O straight swap in a heart beat.

That said, you guys have only lost 1 game and conceded the least points so Gilbert will probably get in there ahead of Harry along with Enright, Presti, Scarlett, Goddard and whoever the CHB is. You will have Goddard, Hayes, Roo, one of Montagna and Dal Santo (maybe both) and probably Gilbert in the team this year.

What a load of shit.

This thread is just a Collingwood wankfest.
