one of my absolute favourites, has that James Clement quality about him, no fanfare, rarely if ever beaten, uses the ball so well, so clean and calm .
3rd best hands below his knees behind Naicos and Pendles, and they are 2 dead set champions of the game

Bobby’s hands are pretty damn good, too.

Pendles can easily go past 450 games, he is still clearly in our best 5 players
My only concern with Pendles is that I see his opponents running away from easily at times. He is still the conductor and gets the ball a lot but the opposition can take advantage of him in ways that a lot of fans don't see.

that would be mainly because other people cant hit a target, turning it over in a bad spot of the ground
we need to sort those players out before moving on Pendles
one of only 3 players im comfortable with having the ball during the game, 95% time makes the right decision. the other being Naicos and Perryman

It feels odd to say, but I think this season and 2025 have both been improvements on 2024. His (relative) decline has not been linear at all, unlike almost every other similarly old player

had a lot injuries in 2024, never really got going as side, was one of many that year
he has never had to rely on pace, so perhaps that is why his level is still so high

He's probably watched LeBron and Tom Brady and thought to himself 'why can't I play into my 40s?'

One other thing I enjoy about Pez is the way he seems so happy and talks about livin' the dream havin' grown up a Pie fan.
He visibly just loves playing footy. Such infectious enthusiasm.

He also really loves giving the oppo lip!

He did, in some way. He started in defence but was sent to the back of stoppages a lot in the second half, with Pendles playing more forward of the ball. It’s not inside mid in the traditional sense and no CBA but he was the +1 in the middle more than before. This was his highest % of possessions in the forward half of the year. Circa 44% when in some games he goes at 0/7% as a pure lockdown defender.

He once again showed his potential in the role which I’ve been banging on about. He’s ready for the Pendles role and his chemistry with Nick should be fostered, it’s a miss from the coaches IMO not to have made the move yet.

Tough, smart, good decision maker, good below the knee, tackles well, covers ground even better.
I think it was just that we controlled it so much with the chip kicks forward. I suspect that all our defenders would have gotten a lot of stats further forward than their normal heat maps.

Pez’ last four games % of disposals in forward half: 0%, 7% then 37% and 44% last night (of 27 so a good sample). Sure our territory dominance and gameplan accounts for a bit of that but IQ/Bruz have stayed consistent if not going the other way around even with the stark difference in territory game across the four. I suspect Pez has been given more freedom to go support the back of midfield at mid ground stoppages and throw ins but can’t be s certain and will keep a keen eye. Either way, by design or not he got exposure to some of the skills and situations you need to succeed at as a defensive mid. Hope it’s enough to convince the coaches to give him a go this year as post-Pendles transition plan.

Only 69 games to go!
He'll get there easy. So pleasing to see Shoota, Pez and Houston start to play significant roles as senior players in our side after all have received heavy criticism from internal and external voices. Hes a versatile beast this lad

You do see this live at games.

This was true even when Pendles was at his best - he was never fast.

But his best in comp game sense and anticipation coupled with his flawless tackling technique meant that his direct opponent rarely got past him with ease as it happens more now (especially when we use him more forward of stoppage).

Another good reason to start a smart transition from him to Pez for his position and role in the team.
