It's just so natural, how well he's slotted into our side. There's not been an adjustment period. He's just been a perfect fit for our game plan and adapted immediately.

Due to my general ignorance about most teams other than Collingwood, I had no idea Perryman was this ‘kind’ of footballer.

I thought he was a second tier midfielder at GWS, brought in to bolster our midfield - which he does - but a lot more besides.

Not a glamour player, but consistently good. And he’s making a big contribution to our AFL-leading defence.

Stats wise he was their 7th best player before we landed him. They have a quality squad.

He's worth $900K. There aren't many players who are plug and play and don't complain and just do whatever job a coach wants well. Whether it's defence (which is where he is best suited because he's hard to beat 1 on 1), midfield or forward.... he will give 100% effort each time.

We've definitely had a couple more talented recruits in recent history but I don't recall someone fitting our system like a glove and relishing in it from the get go the way Pezz has.

Has been solid, but hasn't settled into what will be his role just yet. We've needed to use him down back more than he will find himself to cover absences of Houston and Maynard, so I'm looking forward to having him settle into the midfield rotations over a few weeks and see what he adds when he is playing the role we want him to.

If he can become a player who does take on those inside mid minutes when his turn comes, that will be very handy.

He’s a smart player and sometimes even with average/good attributes it’s all you need. You can always take Pendles’ word for this sort of stuff and he was glowing in his assessment of Pez’ decision making and the ‘little things’ in the pre season. Was happy we got him but that sealed the deal for me. Also very much doubt he’s on 900k but that’s the way the rumour mill goes.

Longer term I still see him in our midfield mix more often than not. Probably in the current role Pendles plays.
