I would like to see more out of Harry Perryman next year. It’s not that he had a bad year. He was quite reliable. But I rate him and think he is capable of more, and the club paid him that price to offer more. It was only season one so I am optimistic he will get better.

I want him around the footy more

For the contracts of Jaicos, Perryman and Houston, they more often need to be in the middle and forward of centre.

The mistake is thinking that we can play him out of the middle of the ground. That wasn’t his role at GWS. He’s a defensive mid who plays out of the back half of the ground. Play him to his strengths at Collingwood, then he’s a valuable addition to the team. Playing him out of his natural position will only achieve heartbreak.

It's interesting to see Kane's comments on this guy. Kane often errs on exaggeration of the downside, but I do agree with the questioning of Pez. I think Pez has been okay at best - but people (like the guy in video) that have described him as incredible and excelled are exaggerating on the upside just as much.

Pez was okay at best, and sometime less than okay. We were screaming for midfield support at times, and yet the coaching staff decided to not go to him. Surely that's some sort of sign also.

We played him there in our first game. It is much more likely he stayed in the backline because of the opposite reasons you’re suggesting

So you are suggesting that we didn't use him in the midfield because we needed him more desperately as a mid/small defender? For the entire year outside of Round 1? Yep, it's definitely possible.

My preference though would be that if we thought he would be a contributing member of our midfield, we'd prioritise him there even if we thought he was a contributing member of our defence, because I think our midfield getting beaten up was why we lost several games this year, and if we had a weapon stashed at half back, we'd deploy that in the middle.

Either way, I hope we find out that he can be a good midfielder for us from '26 onwards, because we really need to bolster in that part of the ground.

Just shows what an Idiot and how little Kane Cornes Knows

He just cares about is Clicks and Viewers and sadly he not the only one in the Media who does this

Perryman and a very good Consistent Season underrated by lot of people

Played midfield against Carlton in round 4 and had 20 odd touches, 8 tackles and a goal.

Legitimately from that game onwards we had a player missing from our backline every week that forced him back there.

I don't think we will know whether he is underrated or overrated until we see the B&F results to be honest. And I expect he will poll well because our voting system rewards games played among other things.

Yeah, we've been missing a player from our backline, but also missing players from our midfield. It must have been determined that he would make more impact filling in down back than filling in in the midfield, despite there appearing to be a bigger need in the midfield.

It will be interesting to see where he plays in the new year. I personally hope he will be the midfield saviour we need, but I'm not sure of it.

Agree. I was hoping we’d use him as a defensive mid to limit players like Cripps, Neale, Bont etc.

I said this previously, but if Pez had been in the midfield against GC, Anderson would not have been able to have a clear run to goal.
Pez gets to the right spots, and knows what to do.

We need someone for the back of the back role. With Pendles out we were awful there in the prelim.

I reckon he might Poll Quite Well but that just my Thoughts

Happen other time when Pendles did not play or come off we looked at time like Chickens running around with there Heads Chopped Off

Thought he had an okay year, wasn't bad, didn't star, was reasonably reliable, played some decent footy.

Originally brought in to add midfield depth, I would definitely like to see him get another go in there early next year.

One thing we did see this year was that we got smashed often in the midfield, mostly in the second half of the season, by the best teams. Long's form dropped off (he wasn't alone), and you have to ask, can he take us to a flag? I think we need an upgrade there (and of course, I am not saying it's Perryman).

We need to trade to address that, or find a few more cogs in the midfield machine on our list.

He has the potential to be our Josh Dunkley variant of that big bodied defensive mid, which we desperately need. He won't rack up the touches as effortlessly as Dunks, but his tackling and contest work is strong, and his disposal is above average for that breed of player.

I suspect we'll see Wil Parker earn a full-time promotion to the back 6 next season, along with Houston settling back there after a tough year, freeing up Pez to join the midfield rotation more often. It feels like the lowest hanging fruit for us to make the easiest gains.
