Basic Rules:
At the beginning of the game each player is given a 'role' at random and in secret (via PM) by the moderator.
The aim of the Villagers is to identify and kill all of the Werewolves and the Death Eaters before the evil factions can kill enough villagers so that (# of e.g. Werewolves = # of Villagers). Only one faction can win.
How are players killed?
Each 'turn' of the game will last approximately 24 hours and also represents one 'day' of game time, thus a game will go on for several days before it is concluded. There are two 'phases' to every turn of the game;
Night Phase (8:00pm – 9:00am):When factions including a Death Note owner secretly decide among themselves, via PM communication, which Villager (one per night) that they shall kill and then inform the moderator via PM. Others with a Night action also enter their actions now via PM to the Mods. Decisions for the night phase are to be in no later than 9am.
Day Phase (9:00am – 8:00pm):After the results of Night actions have been announced, everybody, Villagers, Aurors, Werewolves and Mafia alike, discusses and ultimately votes publicly in the game-thread upon which player (one per day) that they shall lynch and kill. Votes for the day phase are to be in no later than 8pm.
Obviously during the day the Villagers will want the group to vote for and lynch an evil player, whilst the evil players themselves will want not to be lynched; herein lies the fundamental strategy of the game:
Can the villagers identify the evildoers whilst at the same time convincing the rest of the group that they're not evil? And can the evildoers convince the group that they're not evil at all and thus avoid being lynched?
Werewolf Etiquette:
There are two main rules which everyone must follow in order for the game to run successfully;
DEAD PLAYERS MUST LEAVE THE GAME
If you are killed at any point during the game then you are no longer allowed to participate although I will allow a farewell post, but that post cannot impact the remainder of the game.
THERE MUST BE NO PRIVATE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN PLAYERS EXCEPT WITHIN THE GROUPS LISTED BELOW
Except for the above-mentioned groups sending PMs between themselves, other forms of private communication concerning the game are not allowed.
Anyone caught sending screen captures of BigFooty of any kind in this thread will be mod-killed instantly with no warning.
Anyone caught quoting PMs from the mods will be mod-killed without warning.
Missing 2 lynch votes in a row or 3 votes in total will see you mod-killed. Missing 2 night actions (if given a role) will see you mod-killed. You may choose to not use a night action but you must state so in your PM.
For this game we will not be using the Reason for Lynching rule. Vote for anyone for any reason at any time during the Day Phase.
Voting:
During the Day Phase players must vote for whom to lynch, your vote must be formatted in bold like this: Player Name.
For this game you may not vote NO LYNCH.
Upon the voting deadline (end of day-phase) the votes will be tallied by the moderator and whoever has received the most will be lynched and be out of the game: remember, once killed you cannot take further part; do not reveal your roles to anyone until the game has been concluded.
Any ties in voting will result in both players being lynched.
ROLES:
EVIL
THE DEATH EATERS
Lord Voldemort (godfather) – has the power to use Legilimency to find out the role of another player once per night. Cannot be killed while Nagini is alive.
Bellatrix Lestrange (Mafioso) – the trusted off-sider of He Who Must Not Be Named. Happily takes part in the killing of a player each night phase.
Barty Crouch Jr (Mafioso - blackmailer) – Daring, loyal supporter of HWMNBN. Is conniving and can use the Imperious curse on another player to vote according to the Death Eaters’ wishes.
Nagini (Mafioso) – This snake is the last remaining horcrux of Voldemort. Voldemort cannot be killed while Nagini is alive. Any targeting of Voldemort at night will not succeed while Nagini is alive, and any attempt to lynch him will have interesting consequences. The village will need to take down Nagini before they can kill Lord Voldemort. (During the day, Nagini is transformed into the form of a human to hide her).
THE WEREWOLVES
Fenrir Greyback (Alpha werewolf) – is the leader of the wolves. Has no seering ability, but directs the werewolves in their nightly kill. On every full moon (every 3rd night) Fenrir gets extreme bloodlust and is able to target 2 players overnight.
Dominic Clawstrike (Werewolf) – Is in the wolves’ PM and helps decide a player to target.
Gretel Whitefur (Werewoman) – Is able to distract one player each night phase, so that they are unable to complete their night action (if any). (even @FR0GGY’s night action).
GOOD
THE FLOGS
Harry Potter, Hermione Grainger, Ronald Weasley (the flogs). Are in a PM together and communicate. If Harry manages to get hold of The Elder Wand however, he can attempt to use it to kill Voldemort (if Nagini is dead). Harry must state who he thinks is Voldemort and can use the wand once in each night phase.
THE AURORS
Mad-eye Moody (seer) – is able to use his magic eye to find out the role of one player each night phase.
Kingsley Shacklebolt (auror) – is able to target and kill one player each night phase.
Nymphadora Tonks (junior auror) – is learning under Mad-eye’s tutelage. If Mad-eye is killed, she will also gain one kill per night in her grief.
The Aurors share a PM.
OTHER GOOD:
Sirius Black (vigilante) – is out to take down Voldemort, and is able to kill one player per night phase. If he ever targets Harry (his Godson), he will also take his own life.
Madame Pomfrey (The Doctor) – is able to protect one player for the following night phase. Can protect herself. Can only protect a player for 2 nights maximum over the course of the whole game. Can protect the same person 2 nights in a row.
The Wildcards (2) - Two wildcards will be given an unknown role at the beginning of the game. They are free to reveal as much as they like about their role, if they can be trusted???
SPECIAL ITEMS:
THE DEATHLY HALLOWS – These are 3 items (Elder Wand, Cloak of Invisibility, Resurrection Stone) which may appear in the game.
The Elder Wand will appear at some stage, and it is in the best interests of the village if it is passed to Harry Potter. Must be passed on by each night phase unless it is received by Harry or Voldemort. Harry may use it to gain a nightly kill (as described above). If Voldemort gets the Elder Wand, his powers will be increased and the Death Eaters may kill 3 players every night phase.
The Cloak of Invisibility will start with one of the players at random. Wearing it protects them for the following night and day phase (i.e. cannot be lynched while wearing the cloak – 2nd placegetter lynched instead). It must be passed to another player immediately after the lynch each day.
The Resurrection Stone does not truly bring the dead back to life, but the holder is able to ask three questions of any dead player, upon which the stone will disappear (and may or may not appear in someone else’s possession).
THE SWORD OF GRYFFINDOR – may appear in the hands of a worthy player IF they know the identity of Nagini. It can then be used to kill the snake immediately. Only the truly worthy will have a chance of obtaining the sword.
