How good was he today? i thought he deserved a toast thread.

Back to his best and this is coming from someone that thought he was close to being dropped. Especially in our depleted backline

Although i can not understand where this performance came from as his confidence looked shot the last couple of weeks.

Keep it up harry

Good to see he's backing himself and taking bouncing runs but still not that confident in his kicking always bombing it to a contest or worse a 2 on 1 against us and kicks going over the head or falling to short to the target.

When you go with a forward line of Schulz, Butcher and Stewart, can you really expect the same forward pressure as Betts and Garlett? Do not get me wrong, I am very happy with his game today, but I would not get too excited.

My exact thoughts. I was really happy with his game but I'd like to see him go for those runs against quick small forwards and not get run down like he did against the hawks and blues.

I thought he was BOG but he had to be with Port stupidly letting him run loose and them constantly kicking it to him.

The best thing was that he can actually mark! The bad thing is that it convinces me that he actually just shits himself when he's marking in a contested situation.

Harry plays best when he plays loose, and that's great and we should try to get him to play loose as much as we can but the fact is that he'll still get torn up if teams decide to match up on him.

i'll rate him as a footballer again when he's forced to play on someone and not stand 25 meters loose in the backline.

I have no idea why Port that would work, but lets hope they played him into form

That kick across goal reminded me of Graeme Allan at the Western Oval in 1984.:p

Apart from that he was very good, now he has to get back to doing it week in, week out, because one week doesn't make a season.:)

Was real good again good to see his run of half back, but Port Adelaide just let him play loose all day so id like to see him do it against a Geelong, Carlton etc.

Harry was excellent, trying to down play his game is simply bias.

He should always play on medium sized forwards where he can burn them with his run, hopefully the coaching staff stop trying to waste him on smalls. Use Toovey for that.

i love his run off halfback. (even though he just bombs it in hope half the time)

but his defensive side has been exposed too many times,
too slow and lazy to match up on smalls and gets out marked and out muscled easily on the bigs,

he needs to be the spare man but the top teams will make him accountable.

I don't buy in to the suggestion that his defensive side gets exposed all the time.

I know he had poor games against Rioli and Betts but he has beaten them every other time he has played on them. He also has beaten Milne many times in the past.

He isn't slow at all. He just got caught under the ball and too far in front of those players in the games earlier this year. Part of that is due to our defensive zoning which leaves him caught out sometimes and is not always his fault.

You are spot on. He was serviceable yesterday and needed it for some
confidence. The test will be when he's made accountable.

Careful agreeing with me there, you may be branded a horrible poster because you refuse to see everything as rosy and perfect at Collingwood.

Honestly, hopefully Primus did us a favour and gave Harry some confidence. But honestly, given he was left alone yesterday, I still don't think he was great.

Yeah he went Ina few surging runs, but didn't really do much damage by foot, dropped uncontested marks and even cost us a goal with an absolute howler of a turnover when the slightest bit of pressure went on him.

Harry has a loooooooong way to go before being "back".

Yes, I'm sure Harry's run off halfback and all of his disposals were so terrible, that it did not help us AT ALL.

You don't have to believe that Harry is "back", but at least acknowledge his performance

Harry was OK. When left alone in the 1st Q and a bit he was effective but he still thinks he has to play on every time he gets it, he still drops too many 1 on 1 marks and he still turns it over a bit too much. Hopefully his game will give him some confidence. If he plays well against Essendon, where he will not be allowed to play as the loose man, then he might be back in form but he hasn't played much footy at his 2010 level since the 2010 GF. The West Coast final aside he was ordinary last year and he's been ordinary this year. He needs to go back to the bascis for a bit IMO.
