I think you guys should only be positive about the prospects of Sheedy coming to Freo (although I personally cant see him leaving Melbourne).
The only real downside is you would almost certainly lose Harvey and Robert Shaw might even want to move. They both left Essendon because the Sheedy Shadow was cast large across their roles.
Sheedy, knowing the old fox pretty well, will definitely want to make a statement to the football world and Fremantle would be an ideal vehicle.
Young, talented list but lacking in culture and success. Sheedy can do for Fremantle what Barassi did for Sydney.
His profile will definitely make Freo the biggest club in the West (great for the coffers) and believe me he hates West Coast almost as much as you do.
With the all time games coached record in his sights, I reckon Sheeds will be a driven man. And after 27 years at Essendon, this new role will completely invigorate him.
Despite his obvious disappointment at being "dumped" by the Bombers, I reckon Sheeds will be over that completely when the first strains of the classic "Freo Heave Ho" resounds across the terraces at Subiaco
On reflection I don't think the EPL managerial system that Cam is hell bent on impementing at the Dockers will work in the AFL. he uses Alex freguson as the role model. Alex has coaches working for him but at the end of the day he is the top dog.
What type of role would sheedy carry out under the Cam model. His ego wouldn't allow him to be number two not after 27 yrs of having absolute control
Why would Harvey want to be second to Sheedy? He has spent over 20 yrs under sheedy as a player and an assistant.
If the dockers want Sheedy as head coach then go for it not some diluted job.
