Once we get these 3 guys in the seniors, I'm sure we can start a big winning streak.

Harvey: Don't need to say much 'bout the champ, but we need his experience, class and leadership to help us get over the line. Also his accurate delivery into the forward 50.

Hamill: His leadership qualities are great I believe, guides the team, and we have a huge winning % when he plays. Also if you remember the Saints v Bulldogs game late last year, every team will struggle with a Gehrig, Riewoldt, Hamill, Koschitzke forward line like the Dogs did. If they can all kick over 2 to 3 goals a game look out.

Gardiner: Of course he hasn't played yet, but if he can find some good previous aa form, he can provide the 1st ruck option, then Koschitzke can stay in the forward line longer. Kosi should then be able to easily take advantage of a teams 3rd or 4th best defender.

No he is not. If we get these guys on the park it all makes sense. Unfortunately the chances of that happening before about round 15 are slim, and who know how long it will last.

We still need to move the ball quicker though, to take advantage of the above. That will come with more familiarity with the game plan.

Aah, NeXus Helen, I understand your pain. I know that being a Saints fan can leave you feeling hopeless. But (as is obvious in your case) footy just isn't fun any more if there's absolutely no hope. And the fact is that we have heaps of reasons to be hopeful. The drought is almost over, mate - I know you find that hard to accept, because you've been hurt by them so many times before, but it's true.

The players mentioned in this thread ARE coming back from injury, and they are all gun-players. Several other players have already come back from injury, and are continuing to improve. Look on the Herald-Sun website - the players sound rested, and inspired by Harvey's testimonial. CHEER UP! It's ON for the rest of the season.

Feel terrible about a terrible season so far. But why worry yourself into misery over a future none of us can predict. Look at the positive possibilities. Better to do that and then be disappointed, then to have just been miserable all the time.

You're missing one. Goose Maguire is just as important, if not more important than the other three. Frees up S. Fisher to be more loose across half back. Is also our most accountable defender while adding drive with penetrating kicking.

Ah yep, I was thinking of him today.. very good point about freeing up Fisher. Fisher is a great decision maker and would be perfect running across HB.:thumbsu:

As far as this goes, I haven't gived up hope and alot of other saints fans haven't. Sure, I'm frustrated with our current position and 'gameplan' but my honest opinion is when we get these players back, we can come good. And another point is Lyon comes from Sydney, they are known for a slow start and come back stronger at the end of the season.:thumbsu:

Bit rough dude :), i agree gardi and hammil probably wont have a huge impact not this year anyway.

i think if we can just get 5 6 games under their belts especially gardi i just want the bloke to do 1 really good in his first game so every supporter screams his name and he feels welcome and comfortable and diserving of his possie i reccon he would still be pretty fragile over what happend at WC.

Theres no doubt that Hamill is a spiritual leader of this group. He makes younger players walk taller when hes playing. However, its unfair to expect him to be a "key" this year. Firstly, we supporters should be just hoping that he makes a full recovery and can get some consecutive games under his belt (first in the Scorpions, then with the Saints). That should be all we ask of Hamill this year. If he can do that...then hopefully he'll be set for a BIG 2008. I hope he plays at least 2-3 VFL games before being considered for the Saints - this is what the Bulldogs are doing with Grant and i think its a smart approach and would be appropriate to apply to Hamill given his long history of injuries and that hes getting older. In a nutshell, we have to be smart with Hamill and not expect too much of him too soon.

Harvey is a champion and was on fire before he got injured so he's definitely a key.

I watched Gardiner closely at training the other day and he seems like he's moving really well. But as with Hamill, im not expecting too much from him yet considering how long he hasn't played for. He needs to get games under his belt first.
