Player Watch Harvey Harrison

🥰 Love BigFooty? Join now for free.

You can see why he was an emergency in Round 1, 2022. Only in his first season.

Some people laughed and questioned why he was in the side last year, and why he kept on being brought up as an option when we were 0-3, early this year. Now you see why.

Hope we don’t continue to write our young players off before they’ve even played 50 games.

He has a very good attitude and that gets you places. Talent only goes so far. If players start turning up, putting in the effort and working with coaches, it gets them places.

His VFL form at the time he was elevated was better than Ginni.

He’s a smart version of Ginnivan who plays more midfield than forward.

Don't agree with the description. Ginni is all smarts but without the athleticism to be effective both ways. This kid is a powerful athlete with the potential to be effective both ways.

I wish I saw Ginni engage his brain more when he wasn’t on the MCG turf and when he was, become more involved.

4/5 top 5 plays this week have Harvey Harrison present and involved. That should say something about him.

He's looking good. He's got that pace and power to turn up the defensive heat and also offensively turn congestion into open play for us.

We won last year before the list has been really converted for the manic high pressure style we play.

I'm far less worried about our oldies not having long left than most are. What we lose in class will be gained in upping the manic swarm. Pendles, Checkers and Elliott will be the hard ones to replace. Hopefully Reef kicks on and replaces one of the forwards.

Did some really good things against the Blues, and starting to look like the player who can be transitioned in as one or two of our 30+ year-old mids are being transitioned out.

In amongst the concern about our oldies being nearing the end, by the end of the year we will have probably added 2-4 replacements already - with Schultz a definite, Harvey looking likely and Reef and Sullivan looking a chance.

Absolutely. Think McCreery showed a flash of midfield capacity on the weekend too - good to see some versatility from him

I’ve been saying it all year, Harvey is something special.

Smart, works hard, reads the play, unselfish but not to the point he has no responsibility. Elite. Simply elite.

Just in the Nick of time he made assist of the year and won the game.

I bought a #36 guernsey this week for a reason and it’s because of his attitude.

Club must of rated him pretty early to give him the much loved champions number Swanny' 36.

Love Harrison’s handballs in close. His hands are so quick. Couple of terrific chase-down tackles, so quick enough over the ground too.

You see Schultz as a replacement for Steele, Pendles, Howe, Elliott, Mihocek etc?

Or just a "senior" body?

Imo he fumbles too much to be a clean midfielder.

^ Schultz slots straight into a premiership side, suits our gamestyle to perfection and has almost zero bust risk, so to my way of thinking he’s undoubtedly worth a late first.

Whether he serves as a long term replacement for anyone in particular is neither here nor there. We will still need more A-graders to allow us to be successful in the post-Pendles era.

+ Plenty of time for others including Macrae to start making an impact.

He hasn't yet been as clean as I was expecting, but in terms of current versions of our veterans, I think he's currently more important to us than Steele, Howe, whe.

Pendles, Mihocek, Crisp and Elliott are going to be the really hard ones to replace. But hopefully we have a bit of time left for the last 3

Considering the pundit hype, I suspect he's upped his running and there's a fair few fatigue based errors. Once he's more established in the current role we might see a cleaner version of Lachie.

I don’t disagree with the Ginnivan comparisons mentioned in that he is similar with the footy smarts. But this bloke looks like an athlete. Ginnivan didn’t.

He’s got a promising future ahead. And our other small forwards are definitely on notice now. There is so much competition for spots.

I want to see more midfield time for McCreery when he’s back and this bloke in the side.

Thats like comparing a race car and the family suv.

I don't think anyone suggesting he will be a bust, cost to acquire and wether those resources went to an actual need and backing in a Harrison for example to develop is the question.

Schultz is a role player C to B level, not an A grader imo.

There is a ****-ton of conversation about whether he is worth a future first. The answer, if you are a side contending for the flag, is “yes”.

Times have changed Loki - pressure is king. He's defensively elite and kicks his share of goals. If he can clean up a bit from his start with us, he'll be a definite A grader.

H² was excellent at Brisbane headquarters earlier in the year, I was impressed live how solid he was one on one.

20 years old and looks like he has the scope due to his speed to play forward, mid or even back.

I was worried a little about his disposal effectiveness around the ground last year but that looks to have improved with maturity.

Scoreboard pressure is one of his superpowers, is a natural goal kicker!
