He was a turd human

He was a very good player and average field kick, a great clutch player in stoppage and good over head mark.

He was not the most skilful to play the game or even close to it.

It depends how you're defining skill - if just by kicking I'd agree with you.

But Hird was an amazing player. He had Pendles like skill to induce tacklers to miss him, but unlike Pendles with his clear fakes and feints, Hirds movements were so subtle that you often couldn't even work out how he did it.

He's still only 20, so a bit of inconsistency is inevitable, unless your name is Nick Daicos.
Harvs will be itching to make up for a quiet game last week.

We’ve got the right guy wearing Swanny’s old number. Harvey really could be that good. Instinctive player who gets to the right spots, reads the play before most around him and makes things happen. He’ll never return to the VFL.

Late to the bandwagon, very well rounded player.

I guess he's still skinny but his pace, disposal (under pressure or out wide) and work off the ball are all top notch. He's done clearances, wing, hf and been very effective in all those roles.

Credit to Harvey, and to player development, they've delivered another finished product that slots right in to the machine.

his goal kicking was really impressive, seems to have a good head on his shoulders which is important.

At what stage does he creep in to discussions for actually winning the rising star this year?

The main reason the judges may not see it is a lot of his really good stuff is a fantastic handball in the blink of an eye that some may miss

Either way just great to see his continued development after Ginni left

I like, amongst his other attributes, that he's confident with his set shots.
No uncertainty, or trying to give it off to a teammate.
He just drills them - he WANTS to take the responsibility.

He’s going to have a great career, he has some elite traits that he will continue to develop but his hands and putting others into the right spot is very impressive. Stepping up and owning the occasion, you don’t learn that.

I was worried when he first played that he might be knocked off the ball a bit, but that's clearly no longer the case.
