More to the point, is the Cup still at the top of their agendas?

Headturner
Imperial Stride
Demerger
Defining
Zabeat
Dolphin Jo
Count Ricardo
Pantani
Jagger
Accumulate

I know all of them have paid up today but has anyone heard or have a bit of inside knowledge of what they are going to do?

P.S. all these horses have something in common... if they dont run it would be fantastic!!!

Headturner Hawkes says will have to run ok sat to push on
Imperial Stride- must be very doubtful,in Mckinnon Sat
Demerger- went awful Sat but they plan to run
Defining- running in the Saab sat
Zabeat -definitely running
Dolphin Jo- 24th spot as we speak
Count Ricardo-cant explain why they paid up
Pantani-ditto
Jagger- has to win the Saab
Accumulate-as above

All just taking up places, cant believe most of these are in front of Mandela??

Exactly the same as the MV Cup last week, its one of the few races that gives you a chance to qualify and Magic Instinct couldnt get a run in front of horses that would be a lot better suited in the Grand National.

I know it could be said that Cefalu is in the same boat but at least it has been set for the race all along and will stay... Maybe I'm biased but I really hope Magic wins the Saab, the formlines through Tawqeet are too tempting to ignore!!

Show barry ran 2nd,great horse but 2500m???
Gallic ran 3rd,brave horse but its had more injuries than Kosi

If you finished behind them, youve got no business being in the great race.

I really hope they do have a look at the qualifying race set up. As horses like Dracs Back and Magic Instinct have found out, if you don't push for the 3yo classics it is so hard to get a run as a 4/5 yo.

These two for example would be in the top 10 in betting but more than likely wont get a run.

We're really paying for drawing 17 in the Metrop thats for sure.

Pantani's plan all along has been to run first up in the Cup. If he runs he won't run last and they offer prizemoney a long way down the finishing order which would be more than a normal race win so it's easy to see why he is still in.
Defining is guaranteed a cup start according to the herald sun, don't know how they come to that conclusion.

Defining is 19th in order of entry so if they want to run, he will. Its just a matter whether some of these horse's connections want to pay the $40k to enter.

There's no doubt there is horses in it that aim to do no more than finish in the top 10. Guess we will have to win the Saab!!!!

Defining was $41 to $17 in the Geelong Cup,midfield the fence & stayed there.
Showed no dash whatsover.Distance form is ok but would need a head start on that effort.

Hard to see them leaving out Mandela, given the Geel Cups recent record.

I stand corrected. I have been confusing Defining and Glistening all spring!

All make interesting jumping prospects - except Count Ricardo, who makes an interesting dog food prospect.

You seem to be following the OTI Racing horses - they have been remarkably unsuccessful. Hugs Dancer won a Craiglee I know but they seem to have blown a hell of a lot of money importing cats.

Just going through todays acceptances and the noms for Saturday's Saab. A horse I have backed with success in Adelaide is Ista Kareem. He is now about 36th in the order and isnt nominated for the SAAB. Question is, why accept again for the cup if you arent in the saab?????

Wunderwood has barely galloped since it arrived,if the stewards are half as quick with this horse as they were with Carte Diamond, its unlikely.

Hard to imagine Imperial Stride being fit enough for 2 miles after the work its missed.Even if it wins the Mckinnon, they dont usually back their horses up.

Hawkes said Railings & Headturner both have to run well or he wont accept.

Saab winner qualifies so I cant see much below Glistening getting a spot.
Fair bit can happen in the last week though, just look at the 48 hrs before the Caulfield Cup.

The amount of work they put in when bringing these horses over is amazing. It is only a matter of time before they find a topliner, in fact they may already have and with even luck we will see it this weekend.

I can't remember seeing it run but who has seen Force Nine race? The only reason I ask is that Cliff Brown has a knack of getting under the guard. Can Force Nine run in the first 2 in the SAAB and force its way into the Cup?

Headturner- massively over rated, never been a fan!!
Imperial Stride- surely couldnt win with the lead up its had
Demerger-one hit wonder in adelaide cup, done nothing since, no
Defining- know nothing bout this fella.
Zabeat- dont know much bout him, dont think i have too.
Dolphin Jo- starting too get warm, could be a smokey if it gets a run, but thats very doubtful
Count Ricardo- under the category "cruelty to animals" retire him please, i will take him as a horse 2 ride around the paddock if they want.
Pantani- would love to see him get a run, would run top 10 easily
Jagger- too disapionting in the cathy pacific, if was up 2 this it would have finished closer.
Accumulate- another one of barts horses in the last few years that aint up to it, only seen as a chance because of the trainers name. strasbourg etc.
