Has anyone seen Joel Selwood play football before and what do you think of him as a footballer?

other way around. Adam plays for West Coast and Troy Brisbane. I've heard that Joel's meant to be the most talented of the lot as well. They have another younger brother as well don't they?

i've got a mate who played against him with the jets and he reckons hes the best player he has seen at that age (u16). he was talking to one of the managers at the jets and they say he is a mile in front of the twins at the same age.

yep. there is no denying he is much more developed than the twins. i supose when u think about it, if ure a younger brother to twins who are 5yrs older, and who are good at sport in there own right, then u will probly turn out pretty talented if u played sport with them/against them.

Even though he hasn't made his senior debut, I rate Troy pretty highly. Although I haven't seen much of Adam's games. But, if their younger bro is better, I'd sure like to see how he develops over the next few years.

I found this thread a really interesting one as I will explain.

In the early nineties I saw Josh Fraser play for Mansfield Primary School when he was in Grade 6. The I saw him in Under 14s. I said to a friend there is a young kid in Mansfield who is a gun and will play AFL for sure. I have often reminded him how I mentioned this when he was so young conidering what he has gone on to achieve.

Anyway a few years back he said there was a kid from Bendigo named Joel Selwood who will be a gun. Joel was about 13 at the time and my friend had seen him play against his son (who is quite a good player too) in a representative team. So I have been getting updates about him as he also wants to have also picked a great player at a young age.

As an aside when his competition played the one Selwood is in (I think it was last year) the Bendigo team sent Selwood out in the wrong jumper number to confuse the oppostion so they would have trouble finding him early in the game. My mate said it didn't take long to find him once the game started.

So I would say Joel Selwwod is a name to watch and will go early in his draft.

have not seen him play, but remember reading something in the Herald Sun about 4 or 5 months ago, saying he would be a top pick when he can be draft (i think 2006 is when he is available)....

Well I rate Adam quite highly and i think he's a promising player for us, so if Joel's anything like him i would love the eagles to try and get him too

I have umpired him in the Goldfields cup interleague championship in 2002. Great young player. Looks a lot like his twin older brothers.

i played against him at last years schoolboys nationals and saw him again at this years under 16 titles. a class act and the complete footballer i would expect him to go very high in next years draft.
