I can see that Hardwick felt it necessary to stand up against things that are against the rules like an elbow to the back. I look forward to him launching a tirade against his own club for clearly abusing the sub rules. He must be outraged.

At least Hardwick is starting to acknowledge his anger management issues that have been all too apparent for a fair few years now.

In a sense the AFL's failure to act on incidents like this back in 2018 may have actually contributed to his problem by failing to make him accountable for his actions.

Dimma seems like a real see you next Tuesday kinda guy. Lost me when he had a go at David Schwartz for crying once. ******* a hole! Your team is s**t and you won't win another game this year. Won't coach another final!
Since you posted on August 5th…
Carlton 0-3
Richmond 3-0

Carlton 7th to 9th
Richmond 9th to 7th

Voss not coaching a final.
Hardwick coaching (another) final.

Ever since the news broke the Tiges have looked a shadow of the powerhouse that dominated the comp in the later years of the Twenty Teens.

As a North supporter who saw how the Carey/Stevens thing broke a similar winning culture, the parallels are eerily similar.

Something's amiss at Tigerland, and having used "Mrs Hardwick" as a key part of their brand for so long, the absence of said Mrs Hardwick has to be a factor.

I have wondered this myself in the past, however it may just be good on regular 'decline'.

I think it may have been Whately who suggested that the shorter games in 2020 may have masked that decline and allowed Richmond to win another premiership which is an interesting hypothesis and one that I was warming to until the last month or so.

One thing that has really hurt Richmond has been losing their fitness coach to Sydney. Tigers used to run out games amazingly well and now you can see a huge improvement in the Swans doing exactly that. Meanwhile Richmond is suffering a lot of soft tissue injuries, re-injuries and has struggling to play 4 quarters.

So IMO it's probably a combination of expected decline and key personnel changes within the club. Maybe not Mrs Hardwick after all.

Cotchin also having a great year and it was reported that he was one of the major unhappy players after that etc.

Seems like some coaches (Scott, Hardwick) get a “defensive of their players” free pass but other coaches aren’t so fortunate. What gives?

This old chest nut.

The AFL brought the 666 rule for a reason. Nothing to do with Richmond's dominance. It was more to do with Ross Lyon and his ultra defensive tactics.

Mate - they made the 6,6,6 rule, but the one that killed us was the stand rule. It meant we couldn't play our zone the way we used to, which was pivitol to our defensive system. It stopped the run. Then they messed with the 50's again. Since they have made these rule changes we have been the worst team for Free Kicks against,Free Kicks received, 50's against & 50's received. If it was one rule change that negatively affected us i am sure we would have called it "bad luck". But its literally been every rule change they have made since 2017 has really hurt our club. Even the decision to change the Hard Cap the way it did - totally rooted us. We gave Dimma a big contract, that was responsible - because we COULD AFFORD IT. When we gave him the contract, there was no suggestion of a hard cap. As soon as that came in it rooted the clubs coaching panel.

Somehow through all these changes, every one of them appeared to not hurt Geelong, if anything - helped them an awful lot. The guy running the rules back then was also applying for the head job at Geelong. When he then got that job, the role was given to the Geelong Coaches twin brother. You seriously can't make this s**t up.

Can you imagine if the head of the rules in the Premier League was Pep Guardiola's twin brother? would never happen. Apparently the AFL has no rules around "conflict of interest".

Gotta wonder why no other club seems to have this level on continual conflicts of interest..... It seems like Richmonds hub issues in 2020, we have had the shittest run in history.

The AFL's history of being threatened by clubs that are perhaps getting "bigger" than the game goes well before & beyond Richmond in 2017. Its' not the first example

Supporters at some point will need to remove their own bias and realize that the governing body of this comp is out of control and has its hands on too many moving pieces. No other league in the world does this, & their is a reason for it.
It opens the door to corruption, meddling etc

did the AFL orchestrate dimma's affair? maybe they were sending vixens his way to tempt him and destabilize the club?

something to think about

A lot of your complaints stem from your own team being ill disciplined

Dimma's affair was pretty much a Dimma ran project - the club had very little...in fact no.... they had zero role in that.
'
I understand the arguments about Dimmas affair & think it did have a negative impact on the chemistry of the club for a while. I have no doubt it hurt it in some capacity. I know when Fev went to the Lions and did all that horrid stuff, it totally rooted the entire culture of the club for nearly a decade. So yes, stuff like that from players, coaches can really hurt a club.

I was commenting on the 6,6,6 & plethora of rule changes that have occured which have hurt us more. These mostly happened BEFORE Dimma's affair & progressively got worse. I strongly doubt Dimma's love life affect the AFLS decisions to change rules - but i do think its believable they would change rules to try to stop our game style, the dominance we had enjoyed - especially after the hub stuff as since then it has gonna Super Hyper next level. The 2022 Richmond season was in the Twilight Zone compared to other teams. It was in-*******-sane

a lot might, but the ARC had nothing to do with that.

Even the Ill Discipline stuff - they had a fgair zero tolerance with us from Day 1 - they gave away 8 x 50's against us in round 1 ffs. Literally the first game of the season with these new, ridiculous rules & they went in full dry with sand applied and penalised us with EIGHT. Not one of them was for a dangerous act - all of them for either being too animated in a bad call or not standing the mark right. All very tedious stuff. It was the most by any team by a country mile for the entire year...in round 1..... in the very first game of the year. No patience for the roll out of a totally new rule. Tone was set early.

We had discipline issues as well, but it doesn't account for the ones we never got also - like the Sydney game where we had a free kick, the siren goes & Papley kicked the ball 50m into the crowd instead of handing it back. After you get 8 50's given against you in round 1, you kinda assume you might get that one. We were umpired with a zero tolerance all year. The ARC situation was so shocking to us because it was so in tone with an already strong sense of something stinking, but at a level none of us thought they would do with it.

All season it felt like our games were umpired in a way of spurts based on the tempo of the game. We have always been a strong momentum team. Whenever we got a run on, the dodgy free's & 50's came back. FWIW, i thought the Pies v Swans game was very much in the same vein. But we had that probably in 40-50% of all our games. So the ARC incident was not a shock in some ways, but incredibly shocking in others as I really didn;t think they would make do it in such an obvious way. That ARC cal;, irrelevant of your team - was a bullshit call. We all know that based on how that protocol rolls, that should have been inconclusive & awarded a goal under the "umpires Call" clause. Its as Black & white as your mobs jumpers. For them to overturn it in basically 7 seconds was a blight on the game

Firstly, the SNIPER Tom "Sniper" Stewart killed our season by knocking DP3 out while he was killing them in midfield before that. Secondly, on 1/9/2022, the Umpire's two bullshit frees to Eric Hipwood killed our season at the Elimination Final! Chopping of the arms? Really. Ball went over the giraffe's head because he was in the wrong position and should have been a boundary throw in. Don't worry about ARC! Tigga barely touched the spud.

So do you include the third man up rule in this too? Despite the fact that Geelong used a third man up more than any other team, primarily Blicavs, this was obviously just designed to stop Grigg's sheer dominance in the ruck yeah?
