In all honesty, why did Ablett ask to come back?

Sure, his Mrs was homesick etc etc. shit happens. He should’ve had some little baby Jesus Ablett’s then, that would’ve kept her happy perhaps?

Seriously though, many here in the bay questioned his body, and now many Geelong fans are doing the same.

For Geelong fans it seemed that a halo stayed around Ablett, the favourite son etc etc, but will him
coming back and essentially playing a selfish, chip scabbing role, now embitter him to Geelong fans?

Did he do it for egotistical reasons?

It’s becoming a real headscratcher.

Probably because he wanted to return to Geelong.

Yeah I'm sure all she needed was some children and then everything would be fine.

In the end who cares, Geelong the club wanted him there. Nobody will remember his final year if it turns out crap. Does anyone mark down Buckley because his final year was spent doing hamstring after hamstring?

Did Lockett ruin his legacy with his 3 game comeback in 2002?
I was expecting a Hawfie to bring that up...No, because he didn't leave the Swans to go and play for another club. He retired, then thought Fu*k it, I reckon I could still play...it was sad, but brief, but very different circumstances to GAJ.

He came back to help Geelong win a flag, he was the cream on the top, the missing piece in the Geelong juggernaut etc...funny as **** now but that was hype in the media back then.
Didnt King Cold start a thread that this years Geelong side would make the 07 cats look like a team of amateur bricklayers?

Sister died you campaigner.
Don't get all precious campaigner after sinking the boots into Cyril and his sick father.

Fact is he couldn't be arsed with the travel, had bled GC dry, Costa and co were willing to stroke his ego, Teach was approaching the vinegar stroke and Gary Senior was again in more shit than a Werribee duck.

GAblett is still as fast as he ever was - in the first half meter of a run - it gets ugly very fast after that- also needs more polish on his head. Pretty obvious teh competition is now on in earnest between " DuckWood/DangeRAT and SOg " as to who gets the most chip scabs and who butchers the ball the most in any game chasing after possession and disposal counts. passing ball between themselves in a merry go round - very funny to watch.

I thought he just wanted to boot the ball into Kenny's face one more time.
